Castle / Jack Nunge's Semi-State video stream

Seems to run motion offense good, got open then scored. Had a nice deflection/block to self. He made a nice pass to a open 3 point shooter from one side of key to opposite corner. Both teams shooting really well from outside.

i like it when the announcer said something like Nunge...."and he isnt even staying in state"....like WTF...Iowa? Iowa?....WTF....I O W A ????

yep....ole boy....this is going to be fun.

3 freaken years of this.. as your starting lineup (just guessing)

Both teams are well coached. Nunge will be used to various offensive sets.

First half over, some good basketball. Nunge is the real deal. Reminds me of Kaminsky. Hit a couple threes and his shot looked nice. Nice high release and repeatable. He'll shoot that for a good percentage. Very good passer. Passed out of a double team to a three point shooter on the opposite side of the court. Long arms. Needs better foot speed to keep in front of his defender but he is guarding basically a small forward at the college level and the best player on the opposing team.

Damn this is a good game. In Illinois 3A game, Morgan Park vs Fenwick, kid almost made (banked in and rattled out) an incredible shot to win. Overtime.

So at 6'11" he could be a better Uthoff?

Some on this board have suggested that Nunge would possibly be a candidate to redshirt next year....the only way I see him not playing next year is if he is injured and unable to play for the entire year or he request to redshirt, if that kid is a 3 star recruit, I can't wait to see what we have is Luka Garza,oh my......

After saying not a dribble drive guy, has 2 dribble drive plays for scores.

He has that same effortless shot that Uthoff has. Very smooth.

Halftime announcers still bitchin' that Nunge is going out of state.

C'mon. How is that different from Hawks bitchin' when an Iowa HS player leaves the state?

Nunge ties it with @ 20 seconds to go then Ben Davis hits a 3 at the buzzer to win. Nice Game Jack Nunge! You have a bright future at Iowa!

Its a big deal in the state of Indiana....to have one of their states' best high school player go elsewhere ...(it even had a little to do with Crean getting Crean)...and then to Iowa !!!!!

If you ever have had an opportunity to talk with a Hoosier fan in person...you would see how this just doesnt happen. The mindset of Hoosiers' of a couple generations ago is quite remarkable. They live & breath their boys...for one of them to go to Iowa is unthinkable ....I love it.

Impressions.

Biggest asset is of course his ability to hit the three.
Nice passing skills.
Blocks out well on rebounds.
Deceptively good leaping and appears to have good reach.
Works in the team concept.
Can take the ball to the hole
Good timing blocking shots.

Needs strength. (Not uncommon for high school kids)
Work on defense (ditto)
Quickness? Maybe it's me but I didn't see anything above average either in his first step or getting up and down the court.

Obviously in the Matt Bullard, Jared Uthoff mold. Also very European looking game. I'm very interested to see if he'll play a wing for Iowa. Not that it matters on the offensive end as with the motion everybody is all over the court. Defensively, we might be moving more and more to a Syracuse zone? Back to the length thing when we had White/Olaseni/Woody/Uthoff.......back to length.

Still unranked by ESPN and rated a three star recruit by most other websites. Of course, they all still list him at 6'8" and 185 lbs. These announcers mentioned more than once he was 6'11" now. Looks like another of McCaffery's "finds."

I don't see Iowa redshirting 4 stars (Garza) and a stretch four really helps us. No shirts here.

If Garza proves to be a better option than Kriener and Nunge a better option than Uhl, how can you bench them. Gotta take the upgrade if they prove themselves.

I wasn't able to watch the whole game, but Castle really failed to feed Jack as much as they should have. When your premiere player is 6" taller than the opposition, you need to get the ball in his hands as much as possible or wait for him to set up under the hoop. A lot of missed transition 3s when Jack was trailing to setup half court offense.
