House Speaker Johnson and that leadership and a whole host of Repubs are setting themselves up, lining up to get their lifetime private $800k salaries for:

1 Extending the 2017 big tax cuts to the wealthy and Corps

and

2 Giving new huge tax cuts to the same groups.

Irresponsible for these so called anti-debt REpubs. In 10 years the debt will be something like $50+ trillion dollars according to the Congressional Budget Office.

The EXTREME WASTE HERE IS HAVING TO PAY THE INTEREST ON THIS DEBT EVERY DAY. Orange Musk and his merry men are totally stealing your future and country.

It's the same lie every single time and the same people that cry about the budget constantly keep voting for this every single election.
Exactly. They only care about the debt when democrats are in office. I have posted this very thing a dozen times since 2001. Trump voters have been taught, and they fully believe, that nothing is worse for this country and them than democrats. No matter what Trump does they will defend it because hating libs is so ingrained into their psyche. They love the people who hate them and will never help them.

I am beginning to think that the ultra wealthy want things to tank. If you have disposable cash sitting on the sidelines, why buy high if you can buy low? Give the market a good shake, watch things fall and when the peons sell their mutual funds because they need the cash then swoop in and buy it.

This will concentrate wealth in an increasingly smaller number of hands.

I hope it does not get pushed too far…wealth concentration is one of the prime motivators of revolution and we are already in unprecedented territory on that front for modern times.

I'm not sure how many times this needs to be said, but DOGE has little or nothing to do with the deficit or debt. They very rarely talk about it, and when they do, it's in the context of something like using 20% to pay down debt and 20% to send checks to taxpayers with no mention of where the other 60% would go. In reality, those checks would still be debt and deficit spending, so unless 100% of savings goes towards deficit reduction, you know that's not a priority. It has more to do with the remaking of government to allocate resources to where they want them to go.

This has been my thoughts also. When everything crashes, they can buy everything up.

According to the Debt Clock, interest on the national debt (over $1 trillion) is roughly half of the national deficit (over $2 trillion).

The average US citizen's share of the $36 trillion national debt is $107K. The average taxpayers share is $323K. Clearly everyone should avoid being a taxpayer.

Nice to see a liberal start caring about government waste. I take it you'll quit complaining about DOGE/Musk now and let them work.

Obviously Congress shouldn't sign on to a budget that's going to add debt over the next 10 years. To me, even $1 increase in debt should be outright rejected.

CUT DEEP until it hurts, then cut a little more and don't sign anything that doesn't call for a small surplus. Things always run over budget so plan for it.

This projection of $23 trillion additional debt is basically consistent with the previous projection of a $6.1 trillion deficit in Trump's first year.

Will you stop supporting the Donald and Republicans if, instead of doing this, they increase the deficit faster than Biden/Harris would?

What will it take for you to see the light - they talk like fiscal conservatives, but they spend like drunken sailors.

One of the many reasons I am no longer a registered Republican
