CBS: A Colombian migrant waiting to enter the U.S. using former President Joe Biden’s CBP One app broke down in tears after her appointments were canc

It wasn't a nightmare. Border patrol was very good at intercepting those crossing illegally.

Funny,.. Problem was more about how these interceptions were allowed to occur, and what was done with these individuals after the interception concluded,.. It was a phucking nightmare.

Of course it’s easy to feel for her. It’s easy to feel for all migrants just looking for a shot at a better life. But, we’ve also got roughly 700,000 homeless Americans in this country who could certainly use more aid than what’s frequently available. A lot more. How do we go about seeing to their most urgent needs?
I didn’t say we should let everyone in. I was just responding to Northern’s question about why is she here on the border and the general, callous tone from many in this thread.

Most "illegals" are people who simply overstayed a Visa. They were not "let in"
20 million overstayed their Visa's? is that what you're trying to sell?

How many of these guys even have a visa?

No sympathy from me. A good friend of mine (US citizen) married a Brazilian and he's been waiting almost 2 years for DHS and State to process her visa application. His wife has been waiting in Brazil the entire time.

Why doesn’t he move to Brazil? What’s the point of being married in that case?

Oh come on. Many are receiving handouts. Look at NYC and Chicago.

Would you support ending the handouts?
We were talking about why they come to America in the first place. It's not for handouts in NYC or Chicago. They come here to make money working.

Sure, end handouts, I don't really care what the cities do either way. Citizens of the city and what they spend money on will decide.

The few that want to work do so for cash and scam the Americans that do pay taxes.

Stuff like this drives me nuts. The few? What evidence do you have that the majority of migrants that come into the US don't want to work and aren't interested in jobs?

You realize that they don't actually have access to the same benefits US citizens do.

We need to figure out how many jobs aren't going to be filled by Americans so we give migrant workers a work visa or the like and companies can do this legally.
I have always said that if someone is here and working and paying taxes, they should be allowed to stay.

I also agree that there are many jobs that many Americans won't want to do, that many migrants will....and I know we need to figure that out too. But, do we really want these folks living on wages that can hardly support them? I mean, it really is a mess to figure out. But, I do know we can't keep going on like we have the last 4 years. I am not aware of any job shortgages that were occuring during Trumps last year, BEFORE Biden opened the border. I do feel for many of these folks.......who wouldn't want to live in the US.

LOL - They don't all pick fruit - those that do come with a seasonal work visa and go back to May-E-Co at the end of the season.

I didn't say it was our job, I said you would think you would have empathy for a person who was trying to get one. But clearly you don't. Which is what I expect from MAGA's no sympathy for anyone but themselves.
I guess in response to your assumptions. How do you know she was going to get a job? What makes you think she was here to have a better life. If she wanted to come to the US do you think she should 100% change to American ways or do you think it’s totally fine that she doesn’t make an effort to learn English. Or do you think she just wants an easier life where she can take advantage of our country while still doing and saying whatever she wants.

Not if you want to reduce legal immigration.
Why do we want to reduce legal immigration? I fully support stopping or slowing illegal immigration, but we need people willing to do the unskilled/low paying jobs. We are not having enough babies to replace the current population, if we want economic growth than legal immigration is a necessity,

What we need is an efficient system that brings in hardworking legal immigrants while weeding out gang members or others that cannot contribute meaningfully to our society in positive ways.

They must be incredibly highly paid based on the amounts we are getting in SS and Medicare from them then.
An ongoing border crisis that saw 5,000 illegal aliens being released into the United States per day in December of last year is a microcosm of a much larger issue as President Joe Biden aims to recapture the White House in a crucial election year.

The issue is a $150.7 billion one, shared between federal and state governments, and that's just one year.

Do any of the MAGAs in this thread ever stop to think how incredibly lucky they were to be born white, in America, at this time in history?

***except Scruddy. I know from your posting history you've said you hate MAGA/Trump, are a POC, a woman & also Harvard educated. ***
