CBS Has Iowa in the Rose

Sorry for another post on this subject, but CBS (Jerry Palm) seems to think Iowa will be in the Rose Bowl with a loss.

Agreed... I'd love to take them on in the Fiesta Bowl.

I've seen more than a few sites with that prognostication. I'm betting that they are simply assuming that the loser of that game gets the invite to the Rose Bowl. After learning more about the Rose Bowl's selection process, Stewart Mandel quickly retreated from "Iowa to the Rose Bowl if it loses to MSU" tweet and changed it to "B1G team with highest CFP ranking will get Rose Bowl bid."

While I much prefer an Iowa win over MSU and advancing to the "Final Four," if there has to be a consolation prize awarded, my preference is Rose Bowl #1 with a Fiesta Bowl against ND as a very, very, very, very close #2.

I've heard similar ramblings. I live out west and there is talk out here (I work with some big boosters to some major programs) that Fiesta would love Ohio St vs ND and that game is actually top choice by a lot of Ohio St & ND big boys. Two of the biggest fanbases going at it equals big bucks for everyone.West Coast people don't seem to be all that bent on having Ohio St. Idea Stanford/USC vs Iowa would still be a big pull from both fanbases and still generate just as much money as if Ohio St was there.
