Duke's NIL collective has arranged for Tulane QB transfer Darian Mensah to be paid $4M/year

This is Brock's 3rd season with the 49'ers. At the end of this season he won't have earned $3M yet.

Year by Year Earnings:
2022:......$1,030,346
2023:.........$870,000
2024:.........$985,000
TOTAL: $2,885,346

Next season he is scheduled to make $1,100,000.
I guess that’s why Brock had to buy his oline Toyota’s instead of Lambo’s. Doesn’t Shadeur (sp?) have a Lambo and Rolex’s coming out his ass? This all makes perfect sense……

Some type of “salary cap” would make sense, but I don’t think there is any way it can be applied to NIL money. Same with paying players. That won’t solve the NIL issue.

Maybe once some of these high priced players don’t provide the return on investment the donors expected, prices will start coming down. Otherwise there may be no choice but to turn college sports into professional.

It will only get worse before it gets better.

So more in one season than a super bowl QB in the NFL has made in 4 seasons.

With the advent of NIL I sure as hell didn't think Duke and Indiana would be a couple of the bigger beneficiaries in FOOTBALL. Didn't see that coming...

What is Kirk's vision?
A fraction of what is being paid, and done in the name of good deeds or some kind of promotion work, when we all know many top programs are taking it much further - pay for play.

His do-gooder attitude gets you right square on the Mendoza line, ie. ebbs & flows.

He turned himself in for day-early contact with CMN, when Rocco Becht came out and said multiple SEC & ACC contacted him trying to get him to leave ISU. Think anything will happen to those schools, or anyone really cares?

Kirk’s do-good attitude is fine, to maintain a warm, fuzzy feeling, but it won’t win anything of substance over the long haul. As Iowa has seen over 26 years.

I like Kirk, but the reality is what it is.

Their NILs contacted Rocco. The coaches did not. Kirk directly texted Cade.

And how much money do those kids playing the sport generate?
Power Five conferences generated over $3.55 billion in revenue during the 2023 fiscal year, according to tax records

I pay my NIL money through streaming like a lot on here do.

Netflix, Prime, B10+, Paramount +, Xfinity

This goes to show the wealth discrepancy in this country. People will pay this type of money so their college team can win more games. I shake my head with so many supposedly struggling but have money for their team. We live in one weird country.

Its gonna be interesting when some of these rich AF private schools decide they want to be good in football and basketball. I think you're starting to see it with Northwestern. They're building the theatre, they just need the actors next. Duke buying a quarterback is another example. There are some rich state schools (Texas/California) but they have large university networks to support. How bout Stanford? They actually have been really good at times in both sports. What happens when they start opening up the coffers and join the arms race? Quite frankly I'm surprised we haven't seen it yet with basketball. Its pretty easy to stack the rosters on smaller teams. For only a couple top dollar players Northwestern can easily become Duke.
It’s because of the kids at jNW that this whole thing sprouted legs. They initially tried to form a union.

People "waste" money on so many things. Eating at restaurants, vacations, convenience items, cushy toilet paper, and on and on.

It takes more than that. All the teams get that money. NIL is team specific money.
