This is certainly one year where it would be really hard to evaluate Iowa until almost conference season. I'm optimistic, but with all the changes it will be interesting to see how , and when this team comes together.
Just trying to figure out the character of this team is interesting. It changes a lot when you add the new/red shirted guards and forwards.
Yeah it's tough to gauge. Definitely gonna be a much different team than a year ago. Just have to see some games before I feel comfortable predicting too much.
I dont have a feel for this team at all. They lost quite a bit of productions which does open up a lot of opportunity for some younger guys. If i had to guess i'd place Iowa around 8th in the B1G.
I sure hope JBo is on this team. I think he is a "glue guy" - a senior with some moxie.
I'm anxious to see this team play. I like the newcomers and guys coming back. I'm looking forward to not pissing and moaning about TC turning the ball over and Moss doing nothing.

These are just guessing games.
Look at returning production, prior season performance and incoming recruit rankings.
They, like us, have no real clue how good Nunge, Joe T, Pat or CJ will be.
If they're all mediocre the 50s is realistic. If one or more turn out to be very good the top 40 is realistic.

If TC and Moss returned with jbo and Luka we would probably be top 25 coming off the near miss at sweet 16 last year.
I thought we were building to peak this year with this senior class but now it is restart time again.
Some fans were sick of TC and Moss, but I liked our shot at the tourny with 5 returning starters more than with fresh faces.

I think we'll be pleasantly surprised. Moss and Cook both had poor efficiency metrics. For their positive attributes, they both had several flaws including TOs and defense.
Bohannon playing would be positive but even he had league average efficiency metrics. His positive offensive ratings were negated by poor defensive ratings.
Garza and Wieskamp by contrast had very strong advanced metrics. If a couple of the new guys can become plus offensive/defensive rated complimentary players then we could have a very good team.
I agree. Both Cook and Moss had the physical attributes to be higher efficiency players, but just werent consistent in that area.

I am extremely excited about this season. I felt like we “knew” what we were going to get with Cook and Moss. I am glad things have been shaken up. I think Wieskamp deferred to other players A LOT last season and it hamstrung the offense a bit. I look for him to be far more assertive. Between him, Joe T, CJ and Evelyn having the quickness to get by their man, there should be many more opportunities for kick outs for open shots and dumpoffs to bigs. We just didn’t have enough of that last season. Just my opinion, but I think all of the new guards are going to bring an attitude we haven’t seen. If JBo plays and is healthy, that is just icing on the cake. Hopefully the team can navigate a very tough non-con.
So. I assume you are projecting Iowa to be a better team without these advanced metric poor performers which will mean a probable sweet sixteen run this year. Hope you are right! Go
Just remember that players don’t put up numbers in a vaccuum. Accounting for cook allowed Garza and Joe to be better.
I think Iowa is a bit undervalued here, but that’s okay, time will tell. I’m expecting an exciting season.
