CC22 named female athletic of year

Good for her but is that really her nickname? Sports fans have gotten so lazy that they just seem to put the initials (LBJ, KD, CP3 etc…). Seems to be a basketball thing.

The initials with the number was only good for Kereilenko aka AK-47 in the early 2000’s.

It is online, I haven't heard anyone say See See Twenty Two in person. I also think CC22 is okay because half of the guys on this Hawkeye sports forum can't spell Caitlin correctly.

PG-13 was a good one, but there are many bad ones with numbers like you say. They all can't have great nicknames like Corey 'Bad Porn' Maggette.

I feel terrible for CC22. She’s probably hard at work drafting her white guilt apology speech 😎

"Wow—what an incredible honor this is. First, I want to thank the Associated Press for this recognition and for shining a light on women’s sports and all the amazing athletes who continue to push boundaries and inspire the next generation.

I also want to thank my teammates, coaches, and family—this award represents all the support, sacrifice, and hard work they’ve put into helping me grow as a player and a person. Basketball has given me so much, and I’m endlessly grateful to be able to play the game I love and share this journey with so many incredible people.

But as I stand here today, I feel it’s important to take a moment to reflect. I know that my journey—while filled with challenges—has also been shaped by privilege, including the privilege of being white in a world where not everyone is afforded the same opportunities or recognition.
I’ve learned that success isn’t just about talent or effort. It’s about the systems and support we’re born into, and I want to use this platform to acknowledge that reality. I know there’s more work to do to ensure every young girl—no matter her background—feels seen, valued, and empowered to chase her dreams.

So, as I accept this award, I also want to commit to being more than just an athlete. I want to be an advocate and ally for equity, fairness, and inclusion, both in sports and in life.
To the young girls watching—especially those who feel overlooked or underestimated—know that you matter, and your dreams are valid. Keep pushing forward, and we’ll keep working to make this game and this world a more inclusive place for you.

Thank you again for this honor. I’m humbled, and I’m excited to continue growing—not just as a player, but as a person. Thank you."

She does ragebait people pretty well. If people weren't so ragebaitable by her you wouldn't hear about her at all really.
Who you calling ragebaitable? If it wasn't Christmas Eve why I'd drive right across the Mississippi over the Buffalo Bridge, play a little pickleball at the Quad City Tennis Club, then kick your azz, if I have any energy left after PB. If not I'll just head to Ducky's lagoon, then cross back at Muscatine...
