Looks like I may be spending a weekend I'm the CR soon. What's the must eats and other activities

During Nevada game this past season, this dude in the Lounge game thread was just chilling in Cedar Rapids and put his kids to bed I think and then drove down to Iowa City during the third lightning delay and caught the end of the game live. I was envious.

Drive over to Dubuque. Go skiing at Sundown, and then hit all the microbreweries downtown. Visit eagle point park and gaze at the Mississippi River winter views, quietly happy you aren’t in CR.
Sorry don't ski.

Take in some live theatre. TCR has Cabaret next weekend. Lots of hot coeds scantily dressed.

Finally a decent piece of advice.
I know a few of the people over there, they do a good job running that club. The girls mostly get along, so pretty good vibes at that place. About any sort of girl you could imagine is over there.

Security guards on the weekends after 10pm (pat-downs), but people are generally quite chill.

Have you seen the new Avatar yet? It was dope (long but really good). Stop in East Dubuque on your way to Cedar Rapids and get some edibles and go check out Avatar in 3D.

He forgot an important part though....bring your gun if you go to Woodys.
Nahh, people don't pay attention.

Late on a Saturday after bar close is when you're most likely to see rifraff. Although I've never seen it.

Last time there was a gun it was out in the parking lot. Years before that a dude shot another dude on a quiet night, but it had been interpersonal conflict.

I've been in on weekends enough plenty and don't think there is any big risk factor.

You are the first person I've ever seen say that Woody's is a good strip club. Unless something has changed (besides their sign on 380), the place has always been a massive shithole next to a truck stop.

Don’t go to Iowa Brewery, their beer isn’t good. Check out Clock House. Need pizza is good and they have a great beer selection.

Dancers is shitty, but Woodys is a solid local club. It's better than it used to be. Lumberyard shut down and so they get all the talent in the area now, re-modeled some, too. But it's clean and the girls are nice. It's not a ritzy looking big city chain club like Cheetah's or whatever. It's more of a neighborhood club vibe. Laid back, girls will come over and hangout. (although time is still money)

As someone who made fun of CR for years as an IC native I can say that CR is worlds better than it was when I was growing up. It has its rough spots for sure, but its generally a pretty good city now.

Rockwell employs a lot of engineers.

Definitely agree about Eagle Point Park. If you haven't been there, I would recommend a half-day in the fall as color permits. It is a fascinating place at any time.

He said Woodys not Dancers Ranch.

Guns and Woody's go together like lamb and tuna fish

1. CR police ride along should be quite entertaining.
2. Ask a CR native what the 5th season is
3. Climb the chain link fence on the sides of I-380 through downtown.
4. See how many CR natives it takes to count a normal mouth full of teeth.
5. As you're driving in, be pleasantly surprised/impressed at the downtown skyline on the horizon until you realize half of it is the Quaker oats factory.

Ok, so I missed the 2016 incident.

Don't hang out after 2am on a Saturday then. I've been in then, I've never seen anything odd. I can tell you that you will see more black folk hanging at that time, but I've only seen people enjoying themselves and tossing dollars at the stage, rarely ever any bickering indoors. I don't feel unsafe. A few isolated incidents with idiots in the parking lot.

As a NL resident that occasionally gets persuaded to go out in Cedar Rapids, I can only imagine how much it used to suck if it's worlds better now.
