Don't work there. Just a semi-regular. Started going there more during the pandemic instead of stopping out at bars for drinks. Found it to be a fun replacement. (plus you can drag in your THC pen)
Never in my wildest dreams did I think a poster would care so much about defending Woody's. Weird thing to keep defending, my man.
Well... it's like defending a local neighborhood bar you go to. It's like... you know it better than the people talking about it.

Usually people that defend a local neighborhood bar will admit it's a shithole, and that's why they like it. I have friends that frequent Green Gable. They love it because it's a shithole.
It's ok to enjoy shitty strip clubs with a history of gun violence.

I will say this though about the girls... the ones you can get you probably don't want to.

Yeah, just waiting for the one without a teardrop tattoo. In all seriousness, the novelty wears off pretty quick and it just turns into a place to become inebriated and play grab ass and chat. I don't know how you could hang there sober.
I thought it was funny because the scenario was exactly what you imagine going wrong when they say don't stick your dick in crazy. Like *real* crazy. I had the perfect trap set for me and I avoided it. I did get with a few non-crazies, but that's a different story.
You may consider a couple of restaurants: Cobble Hill and Black Sheep Social Club. I see the Clock House was mentioned earlier. It is right next door to Black Sheep. Can't go wrong.
For breweries, I like clockhouse. Really good sour offerings.
If you prefer more malty options, then 3rd Base brewery and Iowa Brew are better.
For food, one of my favorite places is Black Sheep, actually under the same roof as Clockhouse for a convenient trip. If you go there, the praline old fashioned is wonderful.
I find Iowa City to be busier than I prefer. Wasn't always the case.

Horrible advice. The Heartlanders games are about as exciting as a morgue. Roughriders are a better deal, better atmosphere, and more future stars.

Best calls. Roscoe’s for thick crust (get the Motown style) and Need for thin. And being someone who does like Mexican, I’d add El Super Burrito as best Mexican diner food. OP, what type of food do you like? My wife is a food reviewer as a side gig here, so I can tell you about pretty much anything. Best restaurant in town is a little Thai place, tucked away in the corner of our oldest strip mall, called Siamville.

If there is a more characterless mass produced suburb than North Liberty, I am not sure what it is.
Yeah, but it at least has Valley Junction and that old area. North Liberty? Bobs, etc. are all gone now. Its all chain restaurants and strip malls.
Leonardo's has the best pizza and it's not even close. Black Sheep is a good place as mentioned above.
