Cedar Rapids now in the top ten safest mid-to-large cities in America

That's because I moved away.

Well, well, well...that's great to hear!

Now if only those redneck, rural, meth dealers would stop killing each other.

Yeah, I think those axe murders were just outside of city limits, if I recall correctly.
Hiawatha or Robins. Somewhere near the line between them. Robins is also where that lady just abandoned her children. Not a lot of good publicity for Cedar Rapids’ most uppity suburb.

Look away, bud. Bad news for your narrative:

But large cities in red states are the worst: St. Louis, Memphis, New Orleans, Birmingham, Indianapolis, etc. All Republican mismanagement, it seems.
Haha one of those cities is not like the others. Cedar Rapids is like a rural town compared to those cities.
Also it’s sad to think Cedar Rapids is towards the top of this list considering it is no where close to being as safe as it used to be. Not as much of knock on Cedar Rapids as it is to every other city in America.

Especially if it's a chain restaurant. I've never seen people flock to a new chain restaurant like they do here

Unfortunately accurate. Luckily, I’ve only known one great local place to ever shut down due to lack of business, and that was due to their own mismanagement.

Fargo? Columbia? And you think a metro area of almost 300k (half a million if you count Iowa City and the fast growing suburbs between the two), is “rural”? Um…okay?

As far as CR crime goes, it’s absolutely way down compared to what it was 10-20 years ago. Even noticeably so since the pandemic.

You’d be surprised how safe and proactive Wellington Heights actually is. That is if you actually researched the matter.
I lived there the first year I attended college here from out of state, commuting to class and working downtown. The first month I was here, a dead hooker was stuffed under the house next door to my apartment. A few months later a guy was beaten and mugged on my walking route, and I missed it by 30–60 minutes walking home from work. Fast forward 25 years, and when I go back there it certainly seems far safer. A lot of the area feels gentrified. There’s new mixed income housing along First Ave (assuming some upper class Coe kids live there) complete with new Scooters/restaurants first floor of these places, and a large Starbucks across the street. The beautiful old houses near First are getting a lot of love from older people, middle class people moving in. My stepson did painting and landscaping for a number of them. The neighborhood association is very active, you are 100 percent correct, and they seem to have done a lot of good.

My bad. 3 of those are small cities and one is Fargo ND. Does anyone live in North Dakota and is there any danger there?
I like how much you are inflating the numbers to make yourself feel better though.
CR has a population of 136,000 not almost 300,000 and it’s great that you want to include Iowa city and the suburbs between the two to get your population numbers even higher. Did you include the crime in Iowa city as well? Along with the suburbs? Are the suburbs also democrats?

100% agree. I never understood the residents of Cedar Rapids obsession with chain restaurants.

If it were cheap, then I’d get it. But chain restaurants aren’t even cheap anymore. You might as well spend a couple extra bucks and go to a local spot. The benefit outweighs the cost now relative to what you get at chain restaurants.

I literally said “metro area” population of “nearly 300k”. Do you always read at a 3rd grade level before posting? I’m embarrassed FOR you.

Ok and once again, are you including the crime of the “metro area” and are they democrats? Or are you just trying to falsely boost your narrative?
What is your incoherent point here? You argued with me about the size of the city and it's metro area. Now we are discussing the city's politics? Are you actually dumb enough to believe the "Democrats are destroying cities" BS? If so, you're less intelligent than I even gave you credit for.

He's the type that always think he's gonna get beat up or robbed when he's in a city. He's scared of them.
