Champ Week + the first weekend of the NCAA Tourament is the best 1.5 to 2 weeks in all of sports.

And it ain't even remotely close.

I love watching these games, even in the mid-major conference tourneys, of teams playing with such desperation to win & advance and then take their conference tourney 'ship for the Auto Bid, especially if its either their conference's only bid and/or the team only shot to make the Dance.


When the Hawks are having the kind of year they are right now, its makes this time even more enjoyable. Also easier on the blood pressure, knowing the worst the Hawks will end up is a 3-seed on Selection Sunday (if lose on Friday night).

An example of the excitement I'm referring to is the CAA conference tourney.

The champ game is between #6 Drexel and #8 Elon. Drexel hasn't been to the CAAT champ game since 2012 and Elon is playing for its first ever bid to the Big Dance.

Elon had to play on the CAAT's first day and had to come back from 15 to win the opener, then eked out a 1-pt win vs the top seed, and won tonight to play in the final tomorrow night.
