a little Hawkeye love...

I always have depth concerns considering key players can go do down on any play (or get suspended for a shoulder to shoulder hit). Hats off to players and staff for working around those issues so far.

Follows along with the Micah Hyde video posted recently where he was wearing a Tiger Hawk logo ballcap when visiting a friend of his.

I don't know if it's more than other schools, but there doesn't seem to be a shortage of former Hawk athletes that let it be known where they came from.

I think Tyler Barns tweeted out a photo of boxes being shipped out to NFL Hawkeyes full of Iowa gear to wear and rep the program. Matt Bowen had a good piece a decade ago about the NFL locker room when your school plays the school of a teammate.

That means the players respect their coaches and loved their time at Iowa. That makes me happy.

I was going to post the same thing.

I always get a kick out of people who question why KF and company run a tight ship and how they need to let some "star" players slide on certain "discipline" issues. Take DK for example, he was suspended for a quarter the last game of the season when the Hawks were looking at going 12-0 in a national spotlight game when he had post season accolades on the line. Fast forward and this is what the "end result" is...say what you want about KF's W/L record...but KF has created the right culture within that program.

We have quite a few fans that don’t even begin to understand how good of a coach Kirk Ferentz is.
