FBI Director Christopher Wray on Wednesday is expected to warn that Chinese hackers are preparing to “wreak havoc and cause real-world harm” to the US.
“China’s hackers are positioning on American infrastructure in preparation to wreak havoc and cause real-world harm to American citizens and communities, if or when China decides the time has come to strike,” Wray will tell the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, according to a copy of his remarks shared with CNN.
The warning marks Wray’s most direct public warning to date about the threat that Chinese hackers pose to critical infrastructure nationwide. The head of the National Security Agency and other senior US officials are also set to testify on Chinese cyber activity in front of the panel Wednesday. PRC hackers, Wray will say, are targeting things like “our water treatment plants, our electrical grid, our oil and natural gas pipelines, our transportation systems.”
The FBI and Justice Department have previously stressed their focus on preventing malign campaigns by the Chinese government and hackers."

Wray needs to let the Biden family know about this. With their ties to China I'm sure they can stop it, if not profit from it.

MIC salivating over a war with China.

All the handringing and pearl clutching about china, and people will still contribute to their economy by purchasing chinese made goods.

Nothing gets a few people excited more than the prospect of war.

It'll probably coincide with a blockade of Taiwan and Iran going totally nuts in ME.

Wouldn’t that be a straight up Act of War?

Pentagon to Consider Cyberattacks Acts of War

May 31, 2011
WASHINGTON — The Pentagon, trying to create a formal strategy to deter cyberattacks on the United States, plans to issue a new strategy soon declaring that a computer attack from a foreign nation can be considered an act of war that may result in a military response.
Several administration officials, in comments over the past two years, have suggested publicly that any American president could consider a variety of responses — economic sanctions, retaliatory cyberattacks or a military strike — if critical American computer systems were ever attacked.
The new military strategy, which emerged from several years of debate modeled on the 1950s effort in Washington to come up with a plan for deterring nuclear attacks, makes explicit that a cyberattack could be considered equivalent to a more traditional act of war. The Pentagon is declaring that any computer attack that threatens widespread civilian casualties — for example, by cutting off power supplies or bringing down hospitals and emergency-responder networks — could be treated as an act of aggression.

As long as the Chinese people need to eat, it would be unwise for China to chose war with the United States. As economically dependent as the US is on China, they are more dependent on the US.

Yep. And when you owe China 100 million that’s your problem.

When you owe China almost a trillion, that’s China’s problem.

In what sense?
I figure they can buy food from other exporters, where will we buy drugs?

Please explain. I’m not familiar with this argument.
We can’t repudiate our debt.
Constitutionally, repayment of federal debt is sacrosanct.

The argument about a big loan being a problem for the lender only applies when the borrower can walk on their obligation.

Most US drugs are made in India, not China.
  • U.S. pharmaceutical imports have skyrocketed in the last ten years, with imports from China, India and Mexico leading the surge.
  • India and China are increasingly the leading U.S. source for generic pharmaceuticals, which account for 90% of all prescriptions written in the U.S.
  • In 2021, China was the leading source for U.S. pharmaceutical imports measured by weight, accounting for 190 million kilograms (418 million lbs) or 23% of total pharma imports.
  • Growing U.S. dependence on China and India for widely-used generic pharmaceuticals creates serious risks to national security and patient safety. China now accounts for 95 percent of imports of ibuprofen, 91 percent of imports of hydrocortisone, 70 percent of imports of acetaminophen, and 40 to 45 percent of imports of penicillin.
  • China’s and India’s dominance of the U.S. generic pharmaceutical supply chain is growing. These two countries account for 85% of filings for new active pharmaceutical ingredients, according to data from an industry watchdog.

This brings us back to the fallout from Trump's trade war with China.
China stopped buying our grains and found new suppliers in South America.
Brazil and Argentina farmers expanded acres to fill demand at the expense of rain forest in Brazil.
Now, US farmers have lost much of their best soy customer business.
So we are looking at a glut of corn and beans with prices heading back to the Trump years prices.

Iowa farmers should not remember Trump years fondly after 3 straight years of record farm net income under Biden...but seems they hate profits under Biden and prefer govt handouts under Trump...go figure.

Seems like a massive difference between what the Census NCAIS is tracking under the code "Pharmaceutical and Medicine Manufacturing", and what USP.org is counting as "active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing."

And their manufacturing economy is NOT improving per the WSJ today.

How long has Biden been president?

Holy shit you guys make some dumb excuses.

My BP meds are. And I think you’re correct. That’s fine by me but I still wish we could increase our numbers on manufacturing most of our meds here.
Most of my generics are made in India. I looked them up after the poisonings a few years back.
A lot of drugs are 'finished' in the US using APIs manufactured in other countries. Just like other 'made in america' products that are just finished in the US from foreign parts.
