Stats show him going 13 out of 20, not bad. I can sure remember Kittle dropping a pass in the end zone, McCarron's incomplete/fumble drop, Vandeburg dropping the long pass, and Smith dropping one.
With a little help from his receivers we would be talking about the nice game he had.

They really didn't take too many chances ( and why should they have) with the passing game today. Moved the ball pretty much at will. But it's becoming more clear that the staff knows what they have and didn't want to have to show it to opponents.

He puts the ball in a perfect spot almost always. Even the horizontal sideline passes are put in a spot that allows the receiver to accelerate to the ball. Allowed our receivers to get the edge a couple times today. Doesn't happen without a perfect ball.

He was pretty on the money on both deep balls he threw, and his passes to both Riley (the drop/fumble) and Jerminic for the TD's were fantastic passes. Kittle should have had his too. He had a good game

CJ had a nice game. His accuracy was excellent. With the way they were moving the ball, I know they didn't NEED to throw the ball down field. However, working on the down field passing game in a game like this one, could pay dividends in the future.

The flea flicker would have been a long TD if Daniels had picked up the LB coming up the middle.

There were actually 4 balls that hit our receivers hands and ended up incomplete. J Smith on the in route, MCCarron goal-line (non fumble gift), Kittle end zone TD and Vandeburg deep ball (well covered but catchable).

And he threw one out of bounds due to coverage.

I think accuracy is easily the most important aspect of a quarterback's game. Obviously they need to be able to handle decision making and the mental part but if you're not accurate it doesn't matter

Yes. Riley not superfast and not super big. The longball hit his hands. He was well covered after initially getting some separation. The refs made wrong call on other one, that was completion and fumble. Kittle should have had the other TD. Beathard had pretty good game, didn't run.

CJ looked great.

There is still some work to do on pass protection. Run blocking was as good as expected.

There were indeed some drops, but overall I liked what I saw from the receivers. I'm really looking forward to Scheel getting healthy to see what he can do.

For Week 1, I give the offense a B+/A-

I made the comment to my buddy this morning after finally watching the game. CJ was insanely accurate. He had lots of time to throw the ball and if that continues, look out. That back foot throw he made to Smith on the flicker was astounding.

It was a close call. McCarron didn't take a single step and I didn't see a football move. However, it did seem like he had initially secured the ball ... before the defender put a hat on the ball.

In contrast, before Hockaday put his hat on the ball ... the guy had already had taken 2 short steps.

I think the "two steps" is more of an NFL rule.

I'm not referring to any particular rule there ... other than the fact that it seemed like the guy had established possession a little more clearly.

Either way, I wouldn't disagree with any assertion that it was a close call. However, I would disagree with the McCarron call being clear-cut.

I was think the same thing. Only 2 deep passes all day. Why not take a shot?

I feel receiver possession calls are typically judgement calls by the refs, so I'd agree with you there.

I would bet that the refs who judged that McCarron's play was an incompletion were pretty alone in their call though.
