Of course if there had been more fans in the stands he would not have cut a deal with Kentucky and lied about it.
How did Fran misuse him?
You know, by starting him ALL 52 games that he was healthy for while he was here as a Freshman and Sophomore. Averaging 26 minutes per game.
Iowa was 21-6 (.778) in Fredrick’s sophomore year in games that he played.
His idea of utilizing CJF was plopping him in a corner the entire game. He had a lot more to offer than that. Also Fran's management of the entire roster that season was one of the frustrating and infuriating things I've ever watched. That roster was absolutely stacked but lets make sure to give the McCaffery boys 40 minutes a game. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't blame CJF for leaving at all
The best years of CJF's career were at Iowa, both in terms of stat totals but also effectiveness.
If only Kentucky or Cincinnati were able to misuse him that well.

I don't know how someone can say the guy wasn't misused when he shot the ball 5 times a game while playing 25 minutes but whatevs.

The previous concept of eligibility for these players seems to have about as much meaning as the concept of amateurism. Or student-athlete.
He was someone that I always thought needed to pull the trigger more often. Similar to Josh the past 2 seasons. I understand not forcing things but I'd rather have a better shooter go hunting than a chucker.
Weird how Fredrick averaged twice as many 2pt FGA (per 40) at Iowa his first two seasons than at Cincinnati his last two seasons. Fredrick had more FTA at Iowa too. Pretty weird for all of that to happen when you’re “plopped” in a corner.
When you have an agenda, facts don't really come into play.
CJ was the 4th option his sophomore season behind Garza, JBo, and Wieskamp.
He was also the 4th option his freshman year too, but you see his numbers are up when JBo (medically RS) after 10 games and (to a lesser extent) Nunge tore his ACL after five games.
An agenda? Give me a break. Those two years where Garza was the best player in the country, we had a roster that was so mismanaged, it was truly incredible. All year, those substitution patterns were so insane, I can't believe I have to re-live this. Capped off by our #2 seed team getting run off the court against Oregon while our best defensive player sits on the bench. Following year, get beat by freaking Richmond while Kris and Joe T rot on the bench.

CJ's legacy is that fans at the 3 schools he went to don't give a crap about him. CJ was so certain he'd be a star/or at least a big piece at Kentucky and he was meh at best.

How on earth was he misused by Fran? He was actually a tremendous option his freshman and sophomore year when healthy. Had a propensity for making dagger shots when the team needed it most. Excellent offensive player for Iowa. Never should have left. Big mistake on his part.
I really liked that team. Forth option and shooting three's at that rate. And his defense was really good to. To bad he was so injury prone. The way he and his uncle mis-used Fran, was a trash move. Reminds me of Freeman, but at least Owen did it for the money.

Iowa’s starting guards were outscored 63 to 0 by Oregon’s starting guards in the NCAA tourney. Just a prime example of Fran’s nepotism and inability to build a roster.
The guy ran away from three programs and got worse every year. He displayed a particularly odious level of deceit. A well-deserved ignominious end of his career.
