CJ Fredrick retiring from basketball!!!

His idea of utilizing CJF was plopping him in a corner the entire game. He had a lot more to offer than that. Also Fran's management of the entire roster that season was one of the frustrating and infuriating things I've ever watched. That roster was absolutely stacked but lets make sure to give the McCaffery boys 40 minutes a game. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't blame CJF for leaving at all
Do your eyes work?

Iowa ran excellent motion offense under Fran. Nobody was ever plopped into a corner vs man defense

63 to 0 against Oregon is still the craziest sports stat I have ever seen in my life.
I completely agree.

Insane that we only got outscored by 63 in the backcourt.

I figured we’d get crushed by over 100 points by the guards at a minimum!

Wait, did you mean insane by we only lost those matchups by 63??😉😎🙃

And he showed that "a lot more to offer" at his other stops?

You know, by starting him ALL 52 games that he was healthy for while he was here as a Freshman and Sophomore. Averaging 26 minutes per game.

Iowa was 21-6 (.778) in Fredrick’s sophomore year in games that he played.
So in a season where they had Luka Garza (NPOY), Bohannon, Keegan Murray, Joe Wieskamp, even Jack Nunge, are you saying without him Iowa would not of been 21-6?

An agenda? Give me a break. Those two years where Garza was the best player in the country, we had a roster that was so mismanaged, it was truly incredible. All year, those substitution patterns were so insane, I can't believe I have to re-live this. Capped off by our #2 seed team getting run off the court against Oregon while our best defensive player sits on the bench. Following year, get beat by freaking Richmond while Kris and Joe T rot on the bench.
Kris played 16 minutes and was 1-6 (0-5 3fg) from the field. Not sure playing him more minutes was going to help in that game. Patrick had 18 points in 25 minutes. BuT dEfEnse. The Murrays were 0-8 from 3 in that game. Best players rise up

My opinion he was misused. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm not going to argue about it for 47 days straight like some members of this board. I never blamed him for leaving, wish he would have stayed. Unforutnate that his family took over his life decisions

As an adult?

Another player mis-used by Fran...

...but probably the iowa fans fault for his lack of success
Completely wrong. Fran had nothing to do with him being a soft bitch that would sit out because he’s a little pussy. That’s why he left, Fran didn’t want to put up with his shit anymore and his teammates didn’t respect the pussy and wanted him gone too. He had 0 friends on the team by the end of that season and it was his own fault.

Hmmm? Hadn't heard any of that before.

Is he a pussy for not making money playing pro ball somewhere? His body is broken.

He's somewhat bowlegged and used a deep leg crouch in his jumpsuit. From his first stress fracture in his foot I called that he would be continually injured in his lower body

Comes straight from Connor after that season and they were all glad his soft bitch ass left.
He was a groomsman in Joe Wieskamp's wedding. There was an account from someone who actually attended the wedding and reception. According to him, the players generally avoided CJF until the McCaffrey's left and then they hung out with them.

Any chance the tampering and lying had anything to do with bitterness towards CJ?

Yes, if I was Fran - and by extension the McCaffrey's - I would have been very bitter if the public accounts were true. I'm not saying the McCaffrey's shouldn't have been bitter, just reporting what another poster observed who claimed to be at Joe W - MacKensie (sp) M's wedding. It struck me as pretty credible.

Lol, CJ was playing hurt much of his sophomore year.

The guy literally turned down wide open shots
F McC did not install toughness in the players. The players were either naturally tough or never became tough. My personal opinion is McC kept guys on the bench when they did not have serious basketball injuries. He totally pampered P McC, who turned out to be a complete pussy. We need guys upon whom we can rely to play. The best player on earth is worthless if he's not on the court.

Can't say that I disagree.

Although CJ, Connor, and I believe JBo too, all had surgery immediately following the Oregon game. So they were in fact playing hurt, rather than being babied on the bench.

But what's any of it have to do with CJ being injury prone? Did his successive coaches baby him too?

I think F McC was attracted to the kind superhero/super crystal egg. Try to play strong but not sufficiently strong to get away with it.
Looks like he wasn't really playing much after Iowa.

Maybe his playing time reflected his continued unreliability. Wilt Chamberlin played the NBA finals with each hand broken. Tough.

Yes, unreliability because he continued to get injured.

You can't play without your legs and the guy is literally bow-legged. Again, I immediately called that he would suffer one lower body injury after another.

His body is broken. Again, you don't think he'd have some desire to play pro ball if it wasn't?

Announced his retirement from Basketball on Thursday in an Instagram post. Back Today into play (LOVE👍).

Or he's just a pussy with a low threshold of pain who avoided the weight room.

Well, one of us is reaching and one of us predicted it all going down exactly the way it did a long time ago
Well bully for you. Not only I, but thousands of people predicted a shortened, injury cursed career-because he jumped out as a pussy that did not try to get stronger.

You should use your inner Nostradamus and ride the equity market wave. You could be a millionaire by Easter.

Not a psychic thing.

CJ is slightly bowlegged, and used a deep crouch in his jump shot. Both together, created a ton of stress on his legs.

Many of his on-court movements seemed to come with strain, even when he was healthy. When he gets a stress fracture early in his career it's just a matter of putting 2 and 2 together

It's still a shame about CJF. I thought if he could've stayed healthy, he had a chance to be spectacular. But once those stress fractures started, realistically that was it for him. I just hope he can find a normal pain-free life.

Wow, two pages about a player who quit on Fran in a very unceremonious way. Glad he left when he did.

CJ Fredrick announced on Wednesday through his social media that he has retired from the sport of basketball.
