Clem Haskins wants U of MN to acknowledge him & his team for their 1997 Final Four run

which U have posted on an Iowa Rivals BB forum about one of the biggest cheaters in B1G BB history...who now wants to be recognized (damn that is so funny)...by the school he was a cheater at...cheated his way to a Final 4.

The thread was about Clem Haskins...not about Kentucky not about Tarbaby...so here lets help you....... NORTH CAROLINA cheated worse that cheater Clem Haskins....Damn those cheaters...

Feel better?
I don't feel anything. I stated my opinion, you got butthurt. I didn't troll Iowa, just made a comment that you got super mad about.

That Minny team had some interesting characters (aside from Clem). Living in Minne, I got a great Sam Jacobson story, from a loyal Goopher fan.

Apparently Sam wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. He was one of the local jocks assigned to pick up some of the celebs at the airport for the pro-am event at Hazeltine. He was assigned Glenn Frey of the Eagles.

Story goes...he picks up Frey and says...so what do you do? Frey says "you probably know me from The Eagles". Jacobson responds.... oh, what position did you play?

Not sure if you are serious or not but what happens in the NBA doesn't matter for college awards. Woolridge had 20.2 ppg, 6.0 ast and a .458 fg%. Jackson had 15.3, 4.0, and .441, while cheating his way through classes. POY is based on only 1996-97 stats and nothing more.

Nice volume stats. Now let's talk about stats that lead to 30+ wins. I would imagine it's easier to score more ppg when you lead the conference in fg attempts.

total win shares
Jackson: 5.4
Woolridge: 5.2

Offensive win shares
Jackson: 2.1
Woolridge: 3.7

Defensive win shares
Jackson: 3.4
Woolridge: 1.5

Jackson was the more complete player and deserved the award. What seemingly went unnoticed by you but not the committee is that defense is an essential function of basketball.

Ha! I hope that's a true story, because I might repeat it a few times. In Jacobsen's defense, the Eagles were well beyond the height of their fame by that time.

No one cares about win shares. Any losers can make up some statistic to make a player look good. People that believe Jackson deserved the award over Woolridge are as big of cheats as Bobby. What kind of loser goes by Bobby anyway, makes intelligent people thing of the idiot Bobby Hill.

Will the same red carpet Clem wants rolled out be available for Russ Archembault? THAT would be an interesting reunion!!!

Nah, Jackson was a far more complete player. It was further proven at the next level when he became a key player on a championship contender.

Who cares what he did on the next level. It's what matters what they did in COLLEGE. We've seen plenty of Heisman winners be bust in the NFL. Woolridge led the conference in points and assist.

And the guy who won Player of the Year should have been INELIGIBLE for the award.

And the team that was declared B1G Champion should have been INELIGIBLE for the championship.

It just sucks it took 2 years to uncover Bobby Jackson's and Clem's crimes

He also played very mediocre defense, hence Jackson having better total advanced stats. If advanced stats don't matter we might as well give the Heisman to the Texas Tech or Hawaii qb with the most pass attempts and yards every year. Timmy Chang come get your Heisman.

So Im not just a Kentucky fan I'm either a Russian hacker or someone paid by UK? Well whatever I am, I stand by my post in this thread that what UNC did is infinitely worse than Clem Haskins.
Let me get this straight-we are arguing about who is a bigger cheater - Minny 20 years ago or UNC? And argument is coming from a UK basketball fan, UK is still coached by a proven cheater- see UMASS and Memphis- those are facts. None the less WTF is going on? Like the twilight zone or something?

Steve Nash won back to back MVPs in the NBA and didn't play a lick of defense even. Which if you use your beloved advanced stats backs up which by the way weren't around in late 90s when woolridge and Jackson were playing college ball. Furthermore don't think you grasped concept of Heisman winner and NFL bust. Not sure where get the Hawaii Texas tech qb comparison. Iowa wasn't using the Grinnell or Hank gathers loyal maramount basketball model to pump up woolridge's stats like those do for football. That is an apples to oranges comparison. argument is jackson had better pro career therefore validates a college award is just stupid.

Minny had 6 years wiped out because of the academic fraud; I agree with you in that it is crazy for ANYONE to minimize what Clem did just because the fraud looks worse at another school

It's not an apples and oranges comparison. Woolridge led the conference in fg attempts by a lot. When you take a significantly larger percentage of your team's shot attempts your volume (ppg) stats should be a higher. Your theory of awarding solely based on volume would penalize any great player on a balanced team.

While Nash didn't play defense, his composite stats like win shares per 48, which includes both offense and defense, were through the roof (>.200) both years he won the award. Jackson finished the season with a higher win share total than Woolridge.

Your last comment is purely strawman. Jackson won the award because he was a better all around player that season. The advanced metrics demonstrate that and my comment about the NBA was only made to justify which player had more talent.

Proven cheater but you couldn't say how he cheated if your life depended on it. See you saying see UMASS, see Memphis- those are facts. Bwahahaha yeah UMASS where they had to vacate an season because Marcus Camby to money from an agent who wanted to represent him in the NBA. Yup, proven cheater indeed. So what exactly did Cal do to cheat? Wait, since you can't answer you're gonna go with look it up, right?

and there it is...you are just like a clock with an alarm. I've never posted on another schools' rivals...how do you do that? Do you like get a notice...Calipari Calipari Calipari ... they are talking John Calipari..

Nope no proof..did John know someone took the ACT for Rose?..after he failed it 3 times in Chicago...the 4th one was taken & passed in Detroit.

Did John know that Memphis provided Rose' brother free hotel & travel $ on several occasions. Nope no proof. Did John know he was playing an ineligible player? Nope no proof.

What we do know is Memphis vacated 38-wins & a Final 4 and John Calipari was the Head Coach at the time. It might be fair to say John did a really poor job managing his program.

Honestly didn't know the whole story, just know every place he had been there has been "issues" and he is a slime ball......but the dude can win some games-at all costs I suppose
