Wow, that server is in real trouble now (because the FBI isn't investigating anyone in particular, according to Huey).
I don't think this is that big a deal. In fact, it will probably work to Hillary's advantage because her enemies will hype it as a major development and be embarrassed when it isn't.
The guy was doing the work off the grid. He wasn't declaring the income. We know that much. My guess -- upon which I would bet a farm if I owned one -- is that he demanded immunity so he could talk about installing the server without getting his ass in a sling with the IRS.
In terms of the larger picture, what could he know that's of significance? He could quote her as saying she wanted to be able to keep her e-mails secret from the State Department, the media, etc., -- but we already know that. Moreover, as a former Hillary campaign aide, it's not like he's going to be eager to dump on her.
I think this really is a case where there's nothing there.

The FBI is not going to grant immunity for some small tax evasion case. They grant immunity because the info will help build a case against someone up the food chain. Not saying it is Granny necessarily, but in a case like this, the immunity is not for some nickel and dime "forgot to claim $5k in income" deal. Also, immunity is not granted without the FBI having a sense of the things he can tell them. He may know a lot about a lot.
I would guess they already know what he's going to say so they granted immunity (there was a negotiation). That tells me that what he has to say is valuable to the investigators.
The FBI has had over 100 agents detailed to this for a considerable amount of time. Seems to me that's a clear indication this is a very high priority criminal investigation. And it's high priority due to the critical nature of what the FBI believes exists.
This. With all due respect to Lone Clone, he is way off base. They do not grant immunity without a "proffer" of the testimony that the person will offer. Only if it helps them make a case against the target will they grant immunity.
This is a big deal.

I'll stick with what I said. And I disagree that the authorities don't grant immunity until they know what the witness is going to say. Hell, look at Oliver North.
HRC belongs in prison. Obama's DOJ will protect her and her idiot sheep followers will make excuse after excuse for her, but it's obvious right now today that she sent classified stuff through her private server, clearly in violation of the law, and she belongs in prison for it. Period.
There is a cure of Clinton Derangement Syndrome you know (as well as Obama Derangement Syndrome). A few weeks away from the wingnut echo chamber of hatred and lies would bring you back to reality and sanity. A mind is a terrible thing to waste!

The FBI is independent and they can investigate outside of the circle of political influence. However, they don't have the power to offer prosecutorial immunity. That has to come from the US Attorney. So Loretta Lynch's Justice Department just authorized immunity for this witness in a case involving Hillary Clinton.
I agree 100%. If this is providing cover then I think Hillary might want to let them know that she will fly in alone.

As often happens, the focus on the worst possible aspect of this deal is going to let a Clinton skate on the rest of it. Back off for a second, boys and girls, and consider one irrefutable fact: Based on what she's conceded she did, Hillary wouldn't be granted a security clearance to work in government. And she's going to be president.
Here we have the right wing dream. She is indicted, political career over. She is not indicted, charges of a coverup and years of Congressional hearings.

If Pagli-whatever had access to or accessed Clinton's server, he likely came in contact with classified material he did not have clearance for. What folks forget is that we have no idea what she and her aides deleted. We've only seen those emails she is allowing us to see. My guess is that the FBI has accessed the deleted info and Pags probably does not want to be charged with mishandling that stuff....
I wouldn't bet that an indictment would ruin her political career. Being impeached didn't hurt her husband's. Look at Red and some others on this board -- they'll support her even if she runs from a prison cell.
Obama won't go against the AG on this. The important thing is whether the AG will go against Obama. Her predecessor certainly wouldn't have.
If she is indicted, her Presidential aspirations are over. While you are correct that many on the left would vote for her even if indicted, there is no way the Democrat Party can afford to let her remain on a ticket if she faces a felony conviction.
I think the wild card is that no one knows Obama's position on this. There are a number of people who think that Obama will have no hesitation in letting Hillary get indicted. He and his team (Valerie Jarrett and Michelle in particular) do not like the Clintons.
