Cmon Nebby

Same. I like to laugh at their misery but they’ve been close in a few random games. Would prefer them not to save it up for the Hawks in 2 weeks.

I hear what you are saying, but they have been so bad it still shouldn't matter. Shouldn't being the operative word.

Have you watched us? We are absolutely non-competitive. We have no chance against anybody right now. Alberts spoke to the OWH and laid it on the line for Dead Hoiberg and his "players":

“But it certainly is the play on the court that is the overriding factor in terms of fan interest and attendance,” Alberts said in an interview. “That’s pretty obvious, I think.”

“You don't have to win every game. You really don’t,” Alberts said. “But you better have a team that competes every night, you better have a team that’s fundamentally sound, you have to have a team that plays together, that will never ever quit, does things the right way and represents the values and ideals of Nebraska and our alumni.

“There have been stretches of this season where our play hasn’t necessarily reflected those very important cultural ideals that Nebraskans hold near and dear. You can see the reaction of our fan base to our programs that exemplify those things and those that don’t, and there’s a pretty stark contrast in terms of fan and donor interest," he said.

I disagree with Coach Hoyburger. I have watched several of his games on television and it seemed to me in several games that his team absolutely "laid down" and quit competing. And it further seemed like he quit coaching as well, preferring to sit on the bench with head in hands.

Remind you of someone around these parts in the past?

Hoiberg will be ousted… Most likely will get one more year…. Outside of the pay days from Bulls (and eventually the Huskers) he should have stayed in Ames.

Still remember the game the entire Nebraska team collapsed on Garza and the rest of the Iowa team was something like 1-20 from 3pt line.

A Neb strategy of surrounding Keegan and making the rest of the Iowa team make 3pt shots is sound strategy. PMAC, Kris, Keegan are all streaky shooters and you never know which game the are all on or all off.

JBO, Perkins, CMAC, Ulis, JoeT are all shooting poorly in B1G from 3pt line and letting them shoot has been a winner for defenses.

I think they have to keep Hoiberg around to be the fan whipping boy as long as Frosty is running the football program.
He does make Scott look only moderately incompetent by comparison.

Here's Anita O'Day's message to Fred:

I thought Nebby made a mistake in firing the former coach.
Kinda like Iowa letting a contract run out and hiring Alford.
Nebraska doesn't believe in letting contracts run out. I think they've been at or near the top of paying coaches not to coach for the last decade or so. Gotta be great at something I guess.

Freddy boy now has a record of 5-46 in the Big Ten, 0-12 this year. Holy shit. No matter how much you owe him there is no way they can justify keeping him to the fan base if he wins 0-2 games this year. If he goes winless (and I think he will) he would be 5-54. That has to be the worst run in the history of the conference, right? Damn how he has fallen.

It's remarkable. Particularly because you can turn a program quickly in basketball (see ISU this year coming off their historically terrible season). Just don't get why he's getting no traction there. And having said that I fully expect the nut punch loss for the Hawks.

You’re right. Look at his alma mater. 2 wins last year and top 25 most of this season. He’s actually stealing money from Nebraska.

Timmy was our best coach this century, for sure. I liked him, and he finished fourth in the Big Ten twice in seven years. For us, that's gold. Unfortunately, the 2014 team lost in the NCAA Tournament to Baylor, and the 2018 team (13-5 in conference with a 20-point win against national runner-up Michigan) was slotted into a road game in the NIT. The 2019 team that got him fired was supposed to be very good again, but injuries really killed that season. The only saving grace was the walk-on crew that somehow beat Iowa (with help from James Palmer and Glynn Watson, of course), so I understand this board's trepidation about the two games against us this year.

However, we have no chance. You can take that to your favorite sportsbook.

As I've said before, Hoiberg gets good players. He just doesn't get smart players. Feel kind of badly for him. I didn't dislike him as much as I disliked his players at Clown U.

What does that even mean? If you’ve got good players the rest is on you as a coach. That makes what Hoiberg has done even worse.

Best 6-17 team in the entire nation on KenPom.

(And, surprisingly, several major conference teams below them--Georgia, Georgetown, Pitt, Oregon St)
