Coaches Friction

Fran is pretty much responsible for having that label. That being said he has been calmer the last few years to smooth out that stigma a little bit.
I agree and disagree with this. When Fran goes off people talk about it. Another coach does it and they are “fiery” and “going to battle for their guys”

I still don't understand how there was a charge called on tjd and we didn't shoot free throws in the bonus.
Never shoot FTs on a player or team control foul. The only exception is if a team control foul(known as loose ball foul new to NCAA 2 seasons ago) occurs and the offended team is in the bonus.

I think the game was fairly called even if I am not a fan of the way it was called....they allowed lots of bumping by Indiana. lot of over the back, and protected TJD to much to my taste and also rewarded flopping---but the total whistle count was roughly neutral.

Give Indiana credit---they played great defense and TJD was automatic. Wish Iowa was allowed to defend him, then it would have been easier win.
I know I am in the minority, but I thought it was somewhat evenly called as well (unlike the Rutgers game). Having said that, it was criminal that TJD did not have 4-5 fouls called against him. I did notice that Sandfort got away with some pretty physical play & I loved seeing it because IU was definitely dishing it out on their end... ;)

There were a ton of missed calls favoring IU that I noticed. Probably a bunch for Iowa too that anyone can feel more than free to point out. The one call I saw go Iowa’s way, was Joe T’s illegal screen. Then, CBS of course brings in the rules expert to point out the officiating error.

There were a ton of rebounding fouls not called on IU. During Iowa’s comeback, Kris is tackled on a reb by TJD. The next play, CMac is obviously shoved out by Thompson. Both pretty clear. Commentators sum it up as that was a foul, but this is the B1G, so……

Keegan gets stripped and at no point does the ball come anywhere near touching him. They call it off his leg.

PMac’s put back dunk, he clearly gets whacked in the head. Play on.

In the 2nd half, an IU player is standing on the sideline with the ball in front of his bench. The ref moves his head as to get a better look but doesn’t call him out of bounds for some reason.

Perkins called for a foul 85’ from the hoop as he’s bumped in to the ball handler by an illegal screen.

JBo/Perkins raped in the final minutes during inbounds plays.

Multiple travels, but none more obvious than the IU player going to pass the ball and picking up his pivot foot never to pass.

Patrick’s turnover trying to dribble up the fast break. Tons of contact on IU’s reach in to dislodge the ball.

I’m sure I could go back and find a dozen or so more. This is just going off of memory watching it live. Contact on the rebounding seemed to be the biggest difference in how this game was called.

If the refs had been willing to call their fouls Indiana might have had only 4 players on the floor at the end.
