Lots of blame to go around but we just have not played consistently good ball even in the few wins we picked up starting at Maryland.

It might be that we flat out-played our level to start the B1G and now we are coming back to the mean. It's heart-breaking for the kids.

Everything has gone south and now the team has lost confidence too.

We were not as sharp that night for the first time in a while. Up until that point the guys were all playing very well together and making a lot of shots. it's not about the winning or losing but the quality of play. You can get by a few games as we did with lower quality or less consistent play but you could see something brewing from that game going forward. It stinks but the signs were there long before the actual extended losing.

Confidence seems to be gone. We are not aggressive anymore. Something has changed. Shooting poorly and shot selection also. Bad clock management when we have a small lead. Gessell dribbling and those unexpected passes to Woody he can't find the handle on. Turning down open looks. Failures on defense to recognize the shooters. Something is amiss.

I think it started in the last half of Illini game...about 8 min to go IIRC. Somewhere in there we lost our nuts and turned back into the pansies of '14.

Problem actually started at Rutgers, IMO. Played very poor defense that night and it was a sign of a very large problem

Good point. That was the game after Purdue beat them by 50 and we struggled to build up an overwhelming lead. We hit enough shots to win but the defense was very poor.

Defense seems to be the first thing to falter. At the end the shooting and scoring evaporates.

Agree we had a 20 point lead with 12 to go and then everyone began playing incredibly poor basketball. IL actually got it back to under 10 but ran out of time.

Maryland, Rutgers, IL ... All games where we had some troubling signs. Now those things are much more extensive and thus the losing streak.

When there is a "players only" meeting, makes you think something is not quite right in the locker room. Disappointing that Uthoff doesn't want the ball late in the game. I don't know if it's on the coaches or players but somethings not right and it doesn't seem like they can "flip a switch."

What we are living through with this basketball team is the 2010 football team.
The difference is the pre-season hype, but most Iowa fans saw it, with the return of virtually everyone, except Aaron White.
Who knows if 5 years from now, we'll get a schedule of playing Rutgers, Minnesota, Illinois, Penn State and Nebraska, twice, and then get blasted in the first round of the NCAA tourament.
Maybe these guys have been together for too long.

JU hasn't been right since Maryland when he let Jake Layman get the best of him. He should be ashamed of that alone.
