Colorado Springs Gamewatch

Everything I have ever seen you post is false or just really stupid..and in all honesty it is very tough to be angry with 300+ days of sunshine
Specifically, what did I say that was wrong? When Jewel got hurt? When ARob got the boot? When various players have gotten injured before the media has announced it?

And it's probably hard to enjoy that sunshine when you're in your car commuting for hours a day.

Don’t listen to sp. Colorado Springs is a very nice, small city. It has good parts and bad parts, like anywhere else. As has been said, the natural beauty is hard to beat. Being on the Front Range, you have easy access to the mountains and all the fun to be had there. Hiking, biking, camping, and all the rest will keep you plenty busy, if that’s what you’re into. Crime is fairly low, but you do need to avoid certain areas, not unlike anywhere else.
The downtown scene is kinda weak for a city of this size. This isn’t all bad, because when you need to do something downtown, it’s fairly easy to park and get around. I will say, the homeless problem downtown is worse than you might imagine. Lots of pan handlers and people sleeping in the parks.
Colorado College just north of downtown. It’s a very nice, small, rather expensive, liberal arts college. The campus is beautiful. Their art museum is impressive.
UC Colorado Springs is also in town, but kinda tucked out of the way. They have one of the better hockey programs in the country.
Of course the Air Force Academy is there too. If college football is your thing, tickets to games are cheap and easy to get. It’s also one of the better game-day experiences I’ve ever had. If you thought the fly-over at Kinnick was low, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
The airport isn’t much, but it’s growing. If you have to get somewhere, Denver International is an hour, hour and a half away.
If you can handle your kids growing up Broncos fans, The Springs is a nice place to live.
Bubbs, what did I say that was wrong? I offered a decent "Con" point of view, while you offered a "pro" view. And, please tell us about the lakes and water sports in the Springs area. And if you have to go to Air Force games for fall entertainment in Colorado, you really need to re-evaluate your life choices.

Colorado Springs is ok for a visit, but it would suck to live down there. You do have easy access to the mountains, but NOT to any good skiing. The nightlife/culture suck. Colorado Springs is like a conservative/military Cedar Rapids. Chains stores/restaurants and sprawl.

I would choose Fort Collins, Denver Metro or Boulder over the springs in a heartbeat.

The Springs sucks. It's neck and neck with Pueblo for the worst city to live in on the front range, imo. Access to mountains, sure, but not easy access to any good skiing. It's like Cedar Rapids, if there were a lot more churches/conservatism and military. Chain stores and sprawl. Just not an easy place to get around.

If you prefer Colorado Springs over the Denver Metro, you're probably old and conservative.

Don't do it. The dullness of the Springs, coupled with the meat head military vibe and all the Christian Conservative headquarters there, far outweigh the natural beauty of the area.

You equate the USAFA with meatheads. If you are that devoid of critical thinking skills then I'll have to follow advice given when I was younger to never argue with a fool lest they know not who the fool is.

You've twisted the discussion into a comparison between the springs and denver. No one tried to make a case that the springs has as much to offer. However, every time I consider moving up there I get stuck in one of their lifetime traffic jams. It's then I realize that living on the extreme north side of the springs I can be in denver in 40 minutes for anything I need. I dare say it takes as much time to travel around the city/burbs as it takes me to get up there.

Would agree that if I had it to do over I would have stayed in the Fort when I first came out here right out of iowa city.

The debate about Colorado Springs depends a lot on what your other option is. I fully agree I would rather live in Denver than CS. But I would rather live in CS than lots of other places in the US. The benefits are obvious (great climate and beautiful location, etc). And most of the negatives would apply to any other city of that size. How many cities of that size have great nightlife and culture? Maybe you can list a handful of exceptions but the vast majority of the US population lives in similar or worse situations than CS on that front. Now, it is true that CS has a large military presence and tends to be pretty conservative. Personally that wouldn't bother me at all but for some people that might be an issue. And as said above, if it bothers you just live on the south side of Denver or Castle Rock and commute to work.

I have spent extensive amounts of time there and have a few old fraternity brothers that live there, which is how I have formed my opinion-my own experiences coupled with my frat bros. What's your Springs experience?

Gee, I don't think I can match that Steven...........but if you'll check my previous comments you'll see I moved here in 1980 after graduating from Iowa.

Just when I do not believe SP can get any dumber, he raises the bar. What is it like to be an expert on everything?
