Colorado Women’s BB; what do we know?

I'm thinking more specifically about the games to close out February, but really I'm just saying they have played better basketball, and it would be nice to see that team against Colorado--win or lose.

And also being more specific, I'm specifically thinking they need to strategize another second of separation for Clark. She doesn't need much, but they need to get her enough time to attempt some better shots. If WV defense is the template to defend her going forward, Iowa needs to adjust.

Actually agree, but believe me, every team would love to play her like that, but can’t

Need to push the pace. Sherrod from Colorado is possibly the fastest player in college basketball. However, the rest of their team not so much. We are at our best when we get out and run even after made baskets. There were multiple times last night CC got an outlet and hesitated and then kind of walked the ball up the court. Totally worked in W VA's favor. Vonleh is a beast, heard them say she's broken all kind of strength records in the program, squatted over 450 lbs or something. However, she cannot keep up w/Stuelke in a running game. They have some shooters as well. We cannot win w/7 points from Marshall and Martin. I know Gabbie played a really good defensive game last night but you can't play 36 minutes and not score in game moving forward against better teams.
Yep, you will have to outscore teams going forward because Iowa's defense is not going to hold them down. West Virginia was a poor shooting team but those matchups are done now; the rest of the teams remaining can shoot/score it. And Clark needs to trust her shooters and pick her spots for forcing her shot vs double teams/etc.. Not saying their aren't spots for that but they are going to need 3 or 4 in double figures going forward. Felt like last night was a lot of 1 individual dribbling vs tremendous pressure.

I think this game (and all from here on out) come down to:

1) stop the extremely lazy passes (mostly from CC - seems to be trying to make the woah-play rather than just execute)
2) make 3s. If we’re gonna be outsized the rest of the way (we will be), we better make up for it by running and gunning and hitting 40% from here on out.
3) hold our own rebounding. I looked and last year vs Colorado, we gave up 24 offensive rebounds! 26 to South Carolina and 14 to LSU.

I agree with all of your points and would add tough defense and better ball handling.

I don't believe CC is trying to make a "woah" play.

She's a "woah" player and passing it to above average players that are inconsistent and can't always handle her play.

Don't forget, CC is the assists leader and that is a big part of what makes this team tick. She must keep working the ball and hope the others raise their level of play so we can have a shot in the remaining games.

Iowa is at its best when CC is scoring in the 30s with double digit assists.

We need Molly Davis back or we’re not making out of this next round IMO.

I’m sure she’ll be less than 100% but another experienced guard coming off the bench for valuable minutes will be a shot in the arm.

Agreed, she can spell Clark, let Clark play off the ball, and rest other guards. Being off for a while may affect her shooting, but if she can handle the ball and defend, it will help a lot. Any word on if she'l play at all?
