Niners players: We didn't know overtime rules

Multiple 49ers players said they were not aware of the NFL's postseason overtime rules.

Are these guys really that dumb or are they just crying because they lost. Even if it was the old rules they still would have lost.

Any casual fan knows the rules changed but yet the people playing the game don’t know the rules changed.

for the record, I was hoping the niners would win.

They weren't alone.

As the OT wound down (after SF had taken half the 15 minutes in their drive) and KC seemed to be (to quote Hank Stram) slowly matriculating down the field - when the 2 minute remaining mark passed and no 2 minute warning - thankfully Nance mentioned that the rules had been changed a bit for playoff football OT.

My bet is half the civilized world was screaming as the 2 minute mark passed...

My father in law was one of them. He was screaming about why they weren't taking a timeout.
