Commitments don't mean diddly squat

This is why the playing / paying field needs to be leveled & the same for every school across the board.

With a commitment should come X dollars as a freshman. If he stays at his original school, he receives a higher amount as a sophomore. If he transfers to another school, they receive the same as a first year team member. Incentivize kids to stay at one school with yearly increases & penalize them for leaving.

I know it won't work in reality as a deep pocketed booster will give the kids an "internship" and pay them bonuses on the side.

Things like this are bound to happen when you have a chicken shit fan base who would rather bitch than donate to the NIL.
Fans donation to the NIL won’t move the needle as much as you think. Corporate donations and rich alumni is how other NIL’s get big money. Granted, the 300 a year from fans help, but to compete with those other NIL’s we need donations from other entities. You seem to criticize the fans often for not donating, how about you go out and get some corporate sponsors?

I got $1000 to donate.. I-Club or NIL? There is only so much $$ one can give…Honestly, I look at it as not my responsibility to finance someone else’s kid. Mine is going to the I-Club.

Why don't we try to get fans to join and show Corporations we are also all in?

The "let someone else" do it mentality has infected many Hawkeye fans.

Or, and this is probably a controversial opinion, no thanks. What's the benefit of NIL? Please give examples of ways it has given an otherwise mid level team an advantage. I'll hang up and listen.

One only look to our neighboring state to the west and see how many 4 & 5 star's they have attracted with NIL money. I noticed you hand picked your comparison programs (mid level) but I'll point out that Ohio State has a 20 million roster and they will be in the hunt for the natty this year.

I'll just say this, if you don't contribute to the NIL don't utter one word about the talent or play on the field.

So no examples. I picked mid level as those programs have the best opportunity to advance with NIL. Ohio State competes for titles every year, NIL has no impact on that. Nebraska has yet to have a winning record since NIL began (this year should buck that trend but I've also seen them crap the bed). Like I said, I bought 2 swarm beers so I'm allowed to make remarks now according to your own fan police requirements.

You're wrong all the way around.
1. Nebraska is improving due to NIL
2. Ohio St attracted the talent they currently have via 21 million in NIL for this year alone.
3. You're exhausted your 2 beers purchased talking allowance.

Now just shut up.

Uhhmmmm, are you aware of the time frame you are living in? The POTUS told people to eat their own pets if they can't make ends meet. Sports = entertainment. Hopefully people aren't placing entertainment above their own families needs. OTOH, corporations have been given several trillion dollars in taxpayers funds starting with the 2009 bailout. Let those ripoff artists fund the bread and circuses for the sheeple.

I see where Herron is elevated to a four star and flipping to the fricking Irish. LOI's are going away so I guess we'll just wait and see who shows up to play in the fall. No longer need to get overly excited about recruiting.

Reminds me of Jerry McGuire where the Dad shakes McGuire's hand and says my word is as strong as oak. Then his son signs with someone else. A handshake or verbal commitment doesn't mean much these days. Integrity is a thing of the past,
Entitled is what the current culture vomits.

Hard times make hard men, soft times make soft men, soft men make hard times.... we are towards the back half of that spectrum thanks to the "feelings" crowd.

Even the Roman collesium waned attendance and closed in time.

Sorry if you can't understand what I clearly furnished.
Ohio state (a perennial title contender) and Nebraska (who has yet to have a winning season since the beginnings of NIL). So like I said, no examples. Sorry that you can't understand that. You can reply however you'd like, I'll stop engaging and let this thread get back to whatever it was about in the first place.

Yes, probably best for you in the long run.

We have the best RB in the country because he flipped his commitment.

Always funny to me when fans hate on kids who flip away from Iowa, but have zero problems with kids who flip to Iowa from other schools.
Because flipping to Iowa (especially from Iowa State) is the right thing to do.

If you're flipping from Iowa to anywhere else, you're not helping Iowa win a national championship, and you're part of the f***ing problem.
