“Walking the fence” is an east side tradition at Fair time....don’t have money to access the Fair?....you “walked the fence line” looking for a hole in the fence....and accessed it that way.About every fifth year, I forget that I hate it and we go for a day. Funnel cake makes that mistake tolerable.

I know some east siders who go only to Lutheran to the hospital because they refuse to cross the river for any reason! I never knew those folks existed for real until I worked that side of town. Their aren’t many of them but they are there!
Spend a day at the Maquoketa Caves and hit up Codfish Hollow that evening for a show. That's a pretty fun day and could be worth a drive. Of course, the only time I've done this lately is with friends and relatives

I’ve been there a long time ago, but Iowa doesn’t offer many - if any - things other states don’t already have.
The Farming Mafia pisses me off. Probably not enough to get my card revoked unless you ask them. P-s. Not farmers in general but the one's that gang together and think they rule the earth. Iowa is full of them.
