He was so bad all year but he has really stepped up the last few games. He’s playing solid defense and is now making threes. WTF? Where did this come from?

I’ve been a major critic of his but I’ve got to give him some credit. He’s playing much better and was critical to this win. He kept us close in the first half.

For everyone reading this thread and want to comment on CMac in the future.... C-O-N-N-O-R

Now, without scoring, he's been playing his best basketball the last month. So solid distributing the ball and might actually be our best midrange defender. Rebraca has been beat off the bounce and physically bumped where Connor has absorbed contact and rerouted guys.

I have been critical of CMac for sure, though always praised his moxie.

He is very smart, probably realizes he is never going to have much of an offensive game, so camp out and practice 3's. Teams leave him wide open anyway. Well played!

His defense was incredible tonight, and against one of the more athletic teams in the B1G.

I think Connor has hit 6 or 7 in a row. I have always liked Connor's toughness and leadership, and I think injuries have really made it hard for him to be the player he was a couple of years ago. Tonight was an upside down performance for Hawk players, and it is good some different guys stepped up.

I've thought that if CMAC every developed a 3pt shot, he could be the player Gasser was for Wisconsin when they finished 2nd in NCAA. Gasser was 40% 3pt shooter but didn't shoot a lot. He rebounded and defended and kept the ball moving and if he ended up with the ball at end of shot clock, he'd make the shot.

I doubt CMAC can keep it up, but even his career best year of 34% from 3pt line is good enough to force teams to guard him.

Is he finally healthy?

If he and JBo put forth the effort on defense, I will cut them a lot of slack.
IMO, Connor has played hard and well defensively for most of the year.. It was his complete inability to hit a shot until recently that made him half a player. The turnaround on the offensive side over the past several games has been nothing short of remarkable.

i THINK he is talking about ConnOr?

I already issued a warning in the Kris thread.

OP “you have the right to remain silent. If you give up that right, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court if HR……..”

He's no longer playing baseball. He's 100% focused on basketball

he might actually be feeling the best health wise he has in a long time. remember, he is coming off DOUBLE hip surgery. that can't be an easy recovery.

he's so tough, both physically and mentally.

Up to 36% now.

Really think it is largely his health and how he's feeling. Couldn't ask for a better time for that to improve!

I’ve always liked his toughness and ball distribution. As bad as he’s been as a shooter, he’s long been decent when catching and shooting in rhythm and that’s what he’s been doing lately. He’s finding open looks and going in rhythm. He’s not standing out there thinking while guys aren’t guarding him before chucking one up and he’s not throwing up heat-checks. When he’s in rhythm, he’s fine - and when he’s any kind of threat out there, Iowa’s offense gets that much better because you then can’t sag on him.

Playing hard is great in any sport, but maybe more so in basketball than most. Playing hard makes you a good defender, helps you get rebounds, and keeps you in rhythm for whatever you can do on offense. CMac has, as many have noted, suffered a lot of bad luck with injuries, but he's never complained that I know of. He just goes out and gives it his best every time. Now, finally, his shooting is coming on, and he's a great asset to this group that is redefining TEAM. Gotta respect anyone who works hard and never gives up. CMac is a key ingredient to this team's future. Happy to see him getting the credit he deserves.

To be fair, no one can keep up the pace he's been on the last 7 games, where he's made 11-17 from 3. But even if he makes 38% or better from here on out, if he can just make teams have to guard him out to the line it helps tremendously. When they play Illinois next weekend, Underwood can't just put Coburn on him and have Kofi just stand in the lane resting and clogging up the paint.

Good on him for stepping up and hitting the shots.

I’m not entirely sure how his shot goes in. It’s flat, and he drifts to the side when he shoots it.

But it goes in, and that’s all that matters.

Connor has gone from being almost unplayable to now probably part of the best lineup.

Not only can they not sagg off, now he's able to attack close outs , get in the middle and create with the pass which is always been his best skill.

He hasn't been able to do that for years.

It reminds of how Aaron White wouldn't shoot a jumper for 3.5 years and when he did it was after a akward pause. Then his last month he decided to shoot on the catch and it opened everything up for him again.

Same thing is happening with Connor. Pretty cool to see.

Aaron of the top scorers was probably the most challenged on getting his own shots. Most his points came on put backs and transition. I dreaded his face up game and most the 3s he took. He besides Reggie was Iowa's all time garbage man ...pure hustle

He won’t make them all, certainly, and he may even have a cold streak - but if Connor is taking open looks in rhythm, I’m very good with it.
