Yeah yeah, another TC bashing post, but his play is driving me nuts. Yes, we'll definitely miss his athleticism when he leaves but the opponent has no respect for his shot so can back off and help on everyone else. He has the athleticism to play in the NBA but he's delusional if he thinks he has the skill set to play at that level.

I know, that's why he needs to work on his shot, dude. Anybody can improve their shot, at least out to 15ft. It just take effort and practice. Not being able to just means he's lazy.

Shooting is a skill. Simple hard work isn’t sufficient to make it better. The list of players that were poor shooters for 3 years and then got magically better their senior season is vanishingly small.

He needs to go sometlwhere else for the good of both parties. He’s not getting better here and I think he holds everyone else hostage.
I think the team worries too much about cook. We would have done cook a favor by making him a sixth man and determined his minutes by effort on the defensive end

Not gonna knock the guy who’s part of a team that has us in the 2nd round. Having said that, he’s not a NBA player. Or at least right now he’s nowhere near ready.

I use to think as well. Now I think he needs to come back and work on his strengths. He needs to finish at a much higher % around the basket and learn refine that attack mode.

THIS!

Cook will never be better than a mediocre shooter outside the paint. But he can get better at finishing at the rim, and creating shots, a-la Luka Garza. As it stands now, Cook will be no more than a role player in the D-League. But he could become a solid role player in the NBA if he worked on his finishing and creativity. The difference is millions of dollars.

I just want him to be an animal on the glass like he was at the end of the game. I don't think he will ever have a good shot.

Exactly. If being a good shooter was simply a matter of a lot of practice, then everyone would be a good shooter. Yes, hard work is important to being a good shooter, but so is natural ability/skill. It's like telling Bohannon to work on his finishing ability at the rim. Yes, conditioning and strength training make him jump higher, but he will never be a dunker/finisher at the rim.

Hmmm....I one read an article that it is possible to improve things like that. Something about 10,000 attempts-and it has to be specific practice- over a certain amount of time. Some is ability some is practice.

He needs to stay in college because next year will be the last year of relevant basketball in his life.

Anyone with a clue can see he has zero chance in the NBA.

His play fits if he was 4 inches taller. He isn't. The NBA is full of guys his size, his athleticism, but can shoot ... and dribble.

I wouldn't care if he didn't score a point as long as he rebounds like he did late.

On the contrary, any gains made in college coiuld likely be accelerated in the pros because he probably would have a professional shooting coach and he would be getting up a lot more shots with eyes on him during the day.

He might be able to play somewhere in Europe. I guess it depends on how badly he wants to get paid for playing and whether or not he wants his degree. Or maybe he's ahead of schedule on that, I don't know.

This. And you often her people talking about it making more sense to further develop your strengths and learn to better utilize them!

Focus too much on playing point guard and shooting jump shots....then he'll spend too much time trying those things!

Get on the block would on your quick post moves and finishing. BOXING OUT! Spend little time on 15ft jumpers and FTs, FTs, FTs!

I'd just enjoy one last season of his ferocious dunking because it may be a long while before we see anybody suit up that can throw it down like he does!

Agree that he will never be able to shoot, but he should be able to improve finishing around the basket, rebounding, and defense. Today, we were very fortunate that he got in foul trouble, because he was killing us on the court missing bunny after bunny and observing others on the boards. He did get some rebounds in the last couple of minutes and he drew fouls, which is his best skill.

He may have a future in Europe and I’m hoping that’s where he goes after this year.

I don't understand how a player like Tyler, who has such power and strength on his dunks, consistently comes up short on the bunnies. It is a puzzlement.
