If cook played all year like he did last night he just might have been a one and done. Wow he was a beast. Great game Tyler
No more freshman WALL for Tyler. He went through.@Always double double.NEED the boards always. And there were a couple of dunks that he clanked that would have made his stat line look even better.
His inside dominance of the terps bigs on the offensive end was the counterpart to Bohannon's dead-eye performance from the three line.

If he learns to just bank those in hard off the board, he'd add 6 or 8 points to his stat line....dunks look cool, but they still only count for 2.
Cook definitely attempts some thunderous dunks and has missed a decent share of them. It makes thinking back to Aaron White even more impressive - I've never seen someone so easily dunk in heavy traffic. Most of White's dunks weren't highlight-reel quality because he made it look so effortless.
One and done might be a stretch. Heck, you could say the same about jbo last night.
Let's just stick with he had his best game in his young career at Iowa. The light almost seemed to go on for him last night. I saw some leadership skills in him last night as well. This bodes very well for Iowa in the coming years. This will be cooks team starting next year.
If he played like last night every game he would be a lottery pick. Hence I said every game.
I don't recall white dunking in heavy traffic. His dunks were mostly uncontested, but man could he get up fast, lighting quick on his dunks.
Best part is Tyler will only get better as a rebounder as he gets stronger. Plus can't under estimate the finger injury had on his shot early on after he returned from his injury. Could tell little shaky less confident but can see on his fts how much better he looks. I bet we see him see more jumpers from next year when he becomes are top scorer I bet next season.

Most dunks in general are uncontested, but if you don't remember Aaron dunking in traffic you might want to rewatch some of his film. He had amazing body control while in the air which made him a big threat on back-door alley-oops and drives to the basket. Also, as you point out, he was a very "quick" jumper which allowed him to quickly dunk after offensive rebounds while the rest of the guys in the paint were still on the floor. He had an uncanny knack for dunking the ball - I don't know of any source of stats that tracks how many dunks players have during the course of a season, but I would not be surprised if Aaron White had more career dunks than any other Hawkeye.
Cook has a very nice outside 3 shot which is scary to think how good Cook could become if can add this shot to his collection of offensive skills real time in league play. He was knocking that outside 3 shot in PTL last summer and it looks real good when it goes in. He just hasn't worked on it or taking the shot enough yet in prime time play during the season but I would say, look for this more next year....btw, his FT shooting is getting better too.

The magic johnson running hook shot came out....if he can perfect that.....
Let's just hope he is an all time Hawkeye that plays 4 years.
Ricky Davis could of been but...
He's a beast. I always thought he looked a tad undersized on TV but after seeing him up close at games, he is a monster. I'd be extremely happy if he stayed one more year

He would not. I mean that's basically what Swanigan is, plus he can shoot the three and Swanigan is barely a first round pick or early second in most mock drafts. Unless Cook becomes like 6'10 or gets a jumper, he doesn't have to worry about going pro early.

No doubt. Why does everybody think Cooks leaving early? There are a lot of great players in college, and only about 15-20 get any real shot in any given year. Were just getting a glimpse of what he can become, but he's got a lot of work to do, to be doing what we saw Saturday three out of every four games. I'd love to see him work more on the 12 to 15 footers, more than the three point shot. If he starts falling in love with the three, those rebound numbers will go right back down, if he's spending a lot of time away from the paint. The three point shot is the great equalizer IF you can hit between 35 and 40%. If not your just trying to score by getting farther away from the basket. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me to take the best low block scorer we've had in a long time, and hope he starts jacking some three's! We've got guys who can shoot the bombs. Give me Jbo, Ellingson, Baer, Moss from outside, dropping it on the block to Cook, Pemsl, or Kreiner. The inside out game the Hawks played Saturday should be the blueprint going forward.Cook is staying four unless he becomes a knock down 3 point shooter in the next two years.
