Cook..wowsa

Remember, he's a month behind everybody else...

TC would NOT be a lottery pick. There's going to be a whole slew of freshmen coming out this year, too.

I doubt Tyler would be first round even with a stellar season. I think we need to pump the brakes a bit on him yet. Enormous potential, yes. But in the NBA he'd be an undersized 4 with no outside game whatsoever.

Hes got a servicable jump shot, he just doesn't use it.

Hed be an undersized 4 with no clue how to rebound or play defense which is not something the nba is interested in.

The NBA is a totally different game these days than it used to be. Cook is a great player but he will be here for his junior or senior year.

If he doesn't develop a good jump shot he won't be drafted until the 2nd round. Also needs to work on his positioning for rebounds. Rebounds is an art and Reggie Evans was the best I've seen at Iowa at that. Wasn't he just 6'7? And in the 80s and 90s the two best rebounders in the NBA were Barkley and rodman both 6'6 or shorter.

I think if cook works on rebounding and a 3 point shot, and 15 footer then he will be a first round pick but that won't happen all next year he needs 2 or 3 years.

Plus didn't his mom want him to graduate from a good college and she picked Iowa. So it sounds like he's way close with his mom and his mom wanted that degree. Not many great moms like his anymore.

This thread is a nice mixture of talking up Cook but making sure he has enough areas to improve to not go pro. I approve, TC for B1G MVP the next 3 years!

Cook is the kind of guy who makes a program like Iowa successful. High level recruit who contributes right away but isn't good enough to go pro early. These guys are so much more valuable to a program like Iowa than the one and done types. Hopefully Weisenkamp is another guy like this, land one of these guys at least every other year and Fran will have a long, successful run here.

No doubt. Why does everybody think Cooks leaving early? There are a lot of great players in college, and only about 15-20 get any real shot in any given year. Were just getting a glimpse of what he can become, but he's got a lot of work to do, to be doing what we saw Saturday three out of every four games. I'd love to see him work more on the 12 to 15 footers, more than the three point shot. If he starts falling in love with the three, those rebound numbers will go right back down, if he's spending a lot of time away from the paint. The three point shot is the great equalizer IF you can hit between 35 and 40%. If not your just trying to score by getting farther away from the basket. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me to take the best low block scorer we've had in a long time, and hope he starts jacking some three's! We've got guys who can shoot the bombs. Give me Jbo, Ellingson, Baer, Moss from outside, dropping it on the block to Cook, Pemsl, or Kreiner. The inside out game the Hawks played Saturday should be the blueprint going forward.

Because we rarely get the talent that he displays and are 1/2 glass empty thinking he will bounce

I for one think he will stay 3 years atleast, he has great upside but this years NBA class is considered a deep class. Cook will benefit from a jump shoot away from the post to compliment his inside game.

No doubt bagdropper. I know people were talking preseason, afraid that he would leave, but I would hope no one actually thinks he could go now. I don't see it next year either. Hopefully he'll be here at least through year three. People forget that Fran spent a lot of time talking to his Mom about Fran looking out for Tyler, and helping him grow as a young man. I think she'd like to see Tyler leave Iowa with a degree. As you said, people forget he missed seven games, so he's just kind of getting it together now against BIG level talent. He's come along way in the last couple of weeks. Lets hope he's just scratching the surface!
