There's a line in "Blue Chips" where Nick Nolte tells three guys they are 6'9", 6'10" and 7'4". One of them says, "I'm not 6'9", and Nolte replies something like, "Well, now you are."
And of course there is the in shoes, not in shoes measurement that gets discussed sometimes.
The truth is, all over basketball there are teams who report actual height and teams that use a rather creative measure. I have no problem calling Pemsl 6'10". It means he isn't 6'7".
It's funny that all of you people think you know about Cordell's height, His coach has confirmed that he is 6'10 on his last physical that was turned into the Athletic office for this school year. And yes Coach English is also the schools AD so he would know the truth.I would say Pemsl is a legit 6'8 and around 240 pounds. He reminds me a little bit of Nigel Hayes in a way. I think he's a true four. People have mentioned him playing the three but I don't see it. As mentioned above, he has the bulk to be an inside player but also occasionally step out and hit the three. If he stays healthy, he will be a solid player for the Hawks.

Not worried about Cook. Figuring Cook, Uhl, Jones for 4-5 in 2016. Just one of Kriener, Pemsl, Wagner stepping up for 2016 would make us pretty strong there fior a transition year.IF he comes in at a solid 6'9" and 240+ and IF his knee holds up and IF Cook comes to Iowa as planned and IF Ahmad Wagner becomes the Hawk's version of Branden Dawson THEN Iowa's lack of depth inside will be immediately turned around.
I know, a lot of IFs. Still would be great to see it.

Cordell is one big dude. I stood next to him and he's just huge. I'm 5'11 and he seemed a foot taller.

If that dude is really 6'10" he might rule the world if healthy. At 6'7" 240 if he's healthy he's still a top notch playerPemsel is now listed at 6'10 245 on the Wahlert site
Agree 110% Brunner is about 6'5" but boy was he explosive and a leading rebounder in the B1G. So much more about how you play than how far the top of your head is from the floor.Karl Karl Karl Karl Karl,
You are right. No coach has ever exaggerated a player's height. At any rate, as long as he stays healthy and is a great hawk I really don't care if he becomes a heightened legend like Greg Brunner!
This is really the issue, when will he regain his mobility? I'm sure there will be some recovery, maybe a good part of his senior year. He'll probably show flashes rather than consistency this year. That's what to watch for. It's really a moot point. At anything over 6'8 and at that weight, if he retained his mobility and obviously has that wicked skill set ....this kid is going to be freaking great.
I'm not going to be greedy. 6'9 is fine with me. But what if Pemsl is 6'10, and if Cook is 6'9 like he said when he committed, and if Kreiner is still growing like he tweeted? All of a sudden, this class has monster size. All are 240+
That's really hard to say at this point but it's certainly a good startThe front court appears to be in able hands for the next 5 years.
