What products have the best prices?

Anything I can’t get at other stores?

Crowds as bad on the weekend as they say?

Worth it? Membership pay for itself?

TIA

It's worth it for the disposal goods/cleaning supplies for us. That's the only reason I tend to go, but usually find some produce or wine/liquor for a good price while I'm there.

It can be crowded on the weekends, but the check out system is more efficient than your local grocery store, even if it seems worse because of the size of everyone's freight.

We are about a 15-20 minutes away and stop maybe once a month.

Yes, gas is cheaper, and get the membership for $140.00 or $150.00 that gives you money back for all of your purchases (4%?) as it will pay for the membership if you shop regularly. We use for produce, milk, eggs, some steaks as well as the bakery and frozen food section. The pharmacy area has good deals to so we use for personal grooming products, ie soap, shampoo, razors, etc.

Never ate at their food court so can’t tell you if it’s any good but Joel likes it based off his post.

I buy Fresh Pet at Costco. It’s $22 for 6 pounds. At the grocery store, it’s $15 for 2 pounds. We buy all our paper products at Costco. You have to buy a year’s worth but half the price of buying in small quantities. Coffee pods, nuts, olive oil, produce, oats, eggs, lemonade, vitamins.

Almost all meat and seafood is a really good buy. Always something in the liquor store that catches my eye.
I’m 100 miles from the closest one, but between work and kid’s sports I usually drive by it about 2 times a month so I can stock up.

Even as empty nesters it's worth it. Can't imagine how much we would have saved had we shopped there when we had kids at home.

Couple things. Quality tends to suffer at discount places. Absolutely not the case at Cosco. Top notch quality.

We do not do the food court because it is packed when we shop.

Watch your consumption when buying in bulk. Human nature is when something is in abundance you will use more.

For us, absolutely yes! And, we are just a family of 2. No children. We buy almost all of our non-perishable household goods there. TP, paper towels, deodorant, shaving cream, vitamins, pain relievers, premier protein drinks, bottled water, their version of LaCroix (we like the costco version better and its cheaper), gas, tires, razor blades, prilosec, costco brand of flonase, TVs when we need one, AirPods, apple watches, wine (there are blogs dedicated to reviewing their wines), we love their street taco kits, coffee (Mayorga cuban roast), air fresheners, fabric softener sheets, laundry detergent, garbage bags, zip lock bags, office supplies, sometimes liquor (its at a store a little further than our normal store). I could go on and on.

We have their credit card and get money back on each purchase and we also have their executive membership which gives us between $250-$400 cash each year based on our spending.

Edit to add: We also use it to ship stuff to our Key West house. As you can imagine things often cost about 1/3 of the Key West prices.

WORD OF CAUTION: Put on blinders, go with a list. You can easily rack up a hundred $ or more in miscellaneous spending on each visit.

We’re just 10 min from Costco so I go on weeknights to get
Gas
Coffee
Paper products
Nuts
Protein
Chicken nuggets

Gas alone pays for itself.

Need to research tires as we’re both due for new tires.
I buy most of my tires there, especially during their Buy3 Get1 Free sales. They cover roadside hazard and rotate and balance for free as well.

Nothing from their house brand is particularly good, but none of it's bad imo. If you're looking to save money, you'll do it there if you have a chest freezer and are ok eating the same thing ad nauseum. The quality of the meat and seafood is better than what you would get at an average grocery store but not as good as at one of the legit whole foods or sprouts. You can get better seafood shipped fresh to you and better meat from a farmers market. The produce at costco sucks and will go bad before you can get halfway through it. The bakery is subpar imo. Everything in the baked goods and ready-to-cook refrigerated meals are loaded with salt

We love it. I prefer to go after work on weekdays. I’m embarrassed to say how many cheap clothes I get from there. We always have a package of their pulled rotisserie chicken in the freezer. We probably need to go and look for their pumpkin cheesecake which is huge and really good. Basically we love the place.

I disagree about the quality of the Kirkland brand. Particularly their laundry products. I’m in the business - and my company makes some of their detergents. They test at parity - if not higher - than brands like Tide.

I get tires at Costco. First time I bought them was for my truck. They were 950 vs 1600 at my former tire store. Haven’t shopped anywhere else since. Always wait till Michelins are on sale.

For real on the blinders. It's impossible to get out of there for less than 200, and that's if you stick to the list.

Could I also save money on a Key West house?

I could use one of those.

That's fair, their cleaning and laundry products are good, I forgot about that section because you only need to go once in a blue moon to buy it. You will save a significant amount of money buying house brand on laundry, dishwasher, cleaning products, etc. The paper products aren't as good from the house brand though imo.

The steaks are fantastic. The problem is the packs are too large. I just don’t need 6 lbs of steak for 2-3 people.
