Could this help the Hawks with David Bell ? Trouble in OSU land

:D:D
Do you pay attention to the news at all?

Michigan State ring a bell recently?

Baylor?

Ever hear of a guy known as "JoePa" who couldn't "be bothered by this" because he had a team to coach? And the many Penn State fans to this day who still think that despite decades of child molestation occurring that Paterno and the university did nothing wrong?

Ever hear of a politician on tape bragging about sexually assaulting women (grabbing a woman in her private area without permission is sexual assault), and a country okay with electing him president?

You get my point. Winning in our society supersedes any concerns about a moral compass.
“Ever hear of a politician on tape bragging about sexually assaulting women (grabbing a woman in her private area without permission is sexual assault), and a country okay with electing him president?” Well, lmao, if he won the election, then what does that say about his opponent?

Depends on your perspective.

I'm a registered Independent and was supporting John Kasich. While I believed Hillary was flawed, not very engaging, and part of the Washington elite, she was light years ahead of Trump in terms of being more palatable and less of a threat to our democracy and world stability. So perhaps what all that says is that the people who elected him are rather gullible and not that bright.

Regardless, the topic was about culture and our level of toleration for sexual misconduct perpetrated by people we place in positions of authority.

This thread is about David Bell, so please stay on point. Thanks

In terms of toleration of sexual misconduct.....Hillary is no saint....should have kicked Bill out of the house, not destroy the reputation of the victims. Instead of being light years ahead, she might be a sleeping turtle ahead. But I get your point.

I don't disagree with you about Hillary being no saint. Frankly, her and the DNC's corruption to get her the Democratic nomination at all costs was disgusting.

If we place those standards on Hillary, then we should expect Melania to leave Trump for his misconduct and paid trysts with porn stars.

Regardless, I don't want to continue this discussion any further. I think the earlier point about Urban Meyer and how we have a permissive culture, whether sports figures, Hollywood, POTUS, etc., has been adequately addressed.

Let us all agree to hoping that Bell in the end chooses Iowa.

To me, his opponent was like the female version of LBJ. LBJ was a pretty awful man ... but he was one hell of an effective politician (the man got things done!).

Again this is a great example of the same point ... to many, these characteristics could be seen as big positives in LBJ ... however, they're somehow unacceptable when wielded by a woman. The double-standard continues ....

We were not relevant in 2009 or 2015. Winning 9-10 wins a year is not relevance.
First of all I don’t think you should be using the term “we” bc obviously not a fan. 2015 we won 12 games and were 38 seconds from big ten title and playoff....that being said I said nothing about iowa at all....kind of pathetic to be posing as a non husker fan

The thread is about men who assault women. Trump is the model. That is fact regardless of your political OPINION.

Far from it, that would be Harvey Weinstein. Selective outrage is cute...transparent, but cute. (and no, I'm not a Trumper, or whatever the term is this week).

To be clear here - 1 poster mentioned PURDUE FANS feel it is down to Indiana and Purdue for Bell. That is not carved in stone. Iowa is still in the mix as much as they always have.

I live in North Cal. They recently arrested a guy here they were looking for for over 40 years. Tied him to 12 murders (possibly up to 50), 50 rapes and counting, 100 burglaries. He was once a cop. Got him using an online DNA genealogy service.

in an effort to get this conversation back on David Bell.

https://purdue.forums.rivals.com/threads/david-bell.147554/page-2

The information about it being down to IU and PU stems from David "liking" a twitter post in which a Indiana writer said it was down to those 2. I wouldn't put much stock in it as David shortly afterword "liked" and Indiana post about PU being IU's "little bro". As people on the Purdont forum have pointed out there is a certain amount of baby kissing that goes into being Indiana player of the year.

TAKE YOUR POLITICAL $HIT SOMEWHERE ELSE, THERE ARE 10 MILLION ANALOGIES THAT WOULD HAVE WORKED WITHOUT BRINGING ANY POLITICS INTO IT.

Before the thread morphed into character assassination the original question asked was would this situation at Ohio State help the Hawks. My opinion, perhaps but doubtful. there are too many others teams ahead of Iowa that have the same thought.

Rivals shows him having only taken 1 visit (PSU 2/18). 24/7 shows him having been in Iowa City 2x. Which is it?

Is he wrong ? You Republicans are pathetic. Your only defenses are deal with you lost and the emails. The guy is the biggest piece of shit to ever run this country and it's not even debatable.

You're wrong, that's for sure. I'm not a Republican.

I'm an independent who strives to think for myself rather than let party loyalty and emotion cloud my thinking...no matter which party is in office. But by all means, keep jumping to conclusions. That's a great formula for reaching meaningful solutions.

Bringing politics onto the football board is also wrong, at least by the standards we all agreed to... which was my original point to BnGbleeder.

I'm just curious what these so-called standards "we all agreed to" are? I could have easily missed them when I signed up for this free, anonymous message board. I, personally, have waded through countless posts on this football board that included rants about Nebraska, sexual content, political diatribes, and pro-Trump rhetoric and gifs that had nothing to do with Hawkeye football. So, either the "standards" have changed, or people are becoming selectively outraged and principled about the content of this board.

Frankly, I couldn't care less if I offended you or anyone else by a point that was germane to the talking point on permissiveness of assault towards women. It is factual that a man was on tape bragging about sexually assaulting women and that people were still okay with electing him president. That is true, whether someone likes it or not. The narrative was never about promoting one political party as being above reproach when it comes to sexual misconduct. The point clearly being made was in regards to our culture being okay with keeping or putting in to power men who assault women or protect people who do, and therefore it is pretty understandable how stuff like what has happened at Ohio State, Michigan State, and other places is allowed to continue--a point I was making to a poster who remarked not understanding how the incident at Ohio State could be allowed to happen.

So, in short, given all the garbage content that happens on this football board daily, including pro-Trump gifs and comments, you and other snowflakes who didn't like my perfectly relevant comment to a talking point because it was "political" can take your selective outrage and shove it up your -- ;)

Football can't come soon enough. This board has gone down hill a lot lately.

The reason "this board has gone down hill a lot lately" is because of posts like ^.

how the hell did this thread turn into a Trump thread?

It shouldn't have been. But some people are thin-skinned and easily butthurt. At least a dozen posts go by with positive Trump gifs or "fake news" quips. No one bats an eye. One of several examples get used in one post in which the message is, if the POTUS is not expected to be held to higher standards how can we expect football coaches to be? People lose their poop. That apparently is being "political" and not appropriate for the level of sophistication of this board. Lol. Laughable.

Regardless, it's not like today is the first day I learned the world is full of morons and hypocrites.

Pretty sure there's a "don't do politics" thing here. Maybe I'm thinking of another Hawk forum.

I don't get "offended" easily, short of someone shouting in my face or physically attacking me. So snowflake would not apply. It's not a matter of thin-skinned, I don't care what your opinion is...everybody has one and that's fine. It just gets old when everything turns into a reference to Trump. Just like it did when Obama was in office.

You seem pretty wound up. In through the nose... might be a good place to start.

Lol I'm not sure what you mean by your last sentence. I should probably switch to decaf, but I have yet to consume it anywhere but past my lips. ;)

I think it's just the way I write. Most of the time I'm just trying to be flippant and facetious. Perhaps using "stick it where the sun don't shine" would have better conveyed that.

I do, though, think it's funny how many posts I've read pro-Trump or "fake news" and other obvious Trump quips that nobody in the thread called out for being political get a pass, but a comment germane to the talking point that wasn't promoting anything political per se other than drawing attention to leadership generates such misplaced concerns about keeping the board "politics" free.

Again, I think a lot of people missed the point. I couldn't care less, though, after all of this and am ready to move on. I've made my point about hypocrisy, gotten a few laughs, and...yeah, let's talk Iowa football again.

FWIW, WR recruit Marcus Washington who was thought for a long time to be OSU bound has now started getting picks to go to Missouri.

Flat-Earthers think they' independent thinkers too.

I'd advise placing more emphasis on independent CRITICAL thought ... rather than simply just being independent.

I'll grant you that partisanship tends to lead many folks to be way too dogmatic ... and that is something I find rather abhorrent.
