1st Nate Weiting?! Has he caught a ball all year? The play before he blocked down to help free Wadley, I think it was him anyway. And he was open the whole play on the pass. Clearly didn't expect him to get the ball.
2nd gave the ball to the up-back for a TD. Has Kulic had a carry? I scream at the Tv regularly for teams (all teams) to quit handing the ball 8 yards back in short yardage situations.
Then in the Kansas State game I heard the analyst early on talking about the K-st O-line tipping run/pass, on film and let's see if UCLA saw what he did. And interestingly enough it wasn't until Snyder put in the running quarterback, Denton and he started running all the time that they finally took control of that game.
So a couple things come to mind..I love it when the announcers like to pretend like they are smart, with that said it clearly didn't matter because they were still able to run it. The point being this board has snatched onto little ridiculous comments like that 100 times over the years, ultimately it comes down to execution.
Also two other board hot buttons...has anyone else noticed how often in these games the Cbs are playing 7/8yards off the ball?
And it is still really difficult to get third and 2 yards or less out of the spread when you're a shotgun team against quality defenses.
Just some observations.
