Craziest thing about the OSU/Meyer scandal...

Pretty unlikely, IMHO.

Anybody know what their employment contracts with +O$U say in regards to their reporting sexual abuse incidents not involving students as the victims? What does the schools code of conduct for employees require?

For instance, we all have a moral, but not legal obligation to report a crime.
The new extension UM signed in April showed very specific language detailing Title 9 reporting being a must and immediate. B1G Ten network made it sound like that language was not in his previous contract.

Any thoughts on why the AD is not in hot water when 9 police reports have been filed on this coach dating back to 2012?

This whole thing makes no sense.

Still information we don't know at this time. Yes, the police were called 9 times to the coach's residence. But never were charges filed until the order of protection was filed against the coach. From appearances, the AD had no idea that the police were called to the coach's house 9 times since 2012. Most bosses are not actively collecting police reports of every city their employees live in.

They have text messages from Urban's wife discussing the issue with someone and stating that Urban is aware of it and doesn't know what to do about it.

There is no doubt Urban Meyer was aware of what was going on.
I'm hoping Nick Saban is going down with him!!! I'm sure as a head coach he knew of this also..

Looks like he decided to deny it ever happened.

Did UM specifically say "I don't know what to do about it?". If not, it's just implied.

I'm not sure heresay from UM's wife would hold up in court. Spouses can't be compelled to testify against each other.

I just read the actual text messages that were shown on whatever article I was reading.

Not going all the way back to Woody, but in the past two decades, tOSU has now had two football coaches with scandals and two basketball coaches with scandals (O'brien and Ayers, right?). Any other school rack up that many points in that period of time?

It isn't even the title IX issue that is the problem, his contract said he is required to report any abuse to his superiors. And like so many other cases it is the denial and the cover up that gets you. The rest of the coaching staff is probably in the clear since Urb was at the top of the chain of command. Nothing happens in that program that he is not aware of.

I absolutely disagree. You don't bring in an unfamiliar face one-month prior to kickoff and expect it to not have a negative impact on the relationships and comraderie of a championship-level football team.

Allowing any outsider (especially a high profile guy like Stoops), to take charge at this stage in the game would create gigantic trust issues and put the entite team in disarray.

They did the right thing by keeping it in house.

I think all the players would know Bob and Bob is there to let coordinators do their thing but to oversee overall operation. He is an Ohio guy even though was a Hawk and coached Oklahoma. Knows a championship level. Who knows if the interim guy they have now knew anything. They don't. The only downside is if the AD gets the axe then whoever is coach is likely gone too. Just a complete fresh start. Bob would have instant respect and credibility with coaches and players.

Good Samaritan laws say otherwise.

how do you fire the entire coaching staff one month before the season starts?
You don’t. You put the head coach on paid administrative leave and hope you can get through the majority of the season before you have to fire him. As for the rest of the staff, you take each one on a case by case basis. Buys you lots of time.
