Crazy to think what wouldn't be in the modern era?

John Wooden didn’t win his first NCAA Tournament game until his 14th season at UCLA. Two years later, he won his first of ten titles. [Would UCLA have had that sort of patience in today's era]

An article in The Athletic shared: The pressure he felt to reach that summit was nothing compared to his pressure to stay there. This is why Wooden often said he wished that all his good friends in coaching would win an NCAA championship. “And those I don’t think highly of,” he quipped, “I wish they would win several.”

Wooden decided to retire early [2 years premature to his earlier plan], after he defeated a former assistant [Denny "Cookie Crum" 😄] in the semi-final game. The mixed feelings he had after an incredible game, lead him to drop the bombshell on everyone.

Not going to miss him on the sidelines, as a coach at either Kansas or North Carolina. Good to see you in attendance, Roy.

It is an interesting story how different coaches careers have been completed.

He has another coming next month.

In College Football, another program made a recent decision.
