Quick question for the room, who from the eastern division would you guys like to see annually?

The obvious would be the big boys like tOSU,MICH, or PSU and recently MSU. It could be one of the newbies like Maryland or Rutgers for the road trip as I've heard they have beautiful campuses. What say you Hawk fans?

I would vote PSU. Our recent history with them makes it interesting. That game was turning into a natural rivalry on its own.

Yep Iowa PSU has been a very good series since they joined the league in 1993. I would say the same thing about MSU as well. While there have been blowouts both ways for the most part it has been very competitive since the early 1980's.

PSU is one of those schools with a rich history made largely before joining the BIG. They are a huge brand with no true #1 conference rival. They have tOSU , MICh, and MSU but those three schools already have bigger rivals.

Well, since purdont used to be the Hawks designated hated rival it would only be appropriate if the B1G in its infinite wisdom made rutgers or maryland the new designated hated rival. What with having such a storied history with them.

Purdue plays Foosball? I said they wouldn't win because I thought they pulled a UAB...hmm wonders never cease to excist. They might get the waa..waaa...waterboy to help them out.

In all seriousness I agree with those who have said PSU. Great games with major implications were played between the two recently. Its not some forcefed "trophy game".

Why does the BIG need trophies like the Freedom,IlliBuck, Keg of Nails, or the Axe. I'm sure there's some deep meaning behind them so please forgive my ignorance.

I just want two trophies or three now..conference,semifinal bowl, and the new big gold one.

After watching a number of classic games online, I would have to say Michigan State, 1; and Penn State, 2.

Either of those teams would be great annual matchups for Iowa. Michigan would be nice too, but it seems like too many people use how good or bad Michigan is as an excuse depending on how Iowa does against them (from all sides, not just Iowa and/or Michigan fans). I don't see that much at all with Penn State, and nothing like that from playing Michigan State.

And f*** Ohio State.

MSU. Too bad the two will play each other so infrequently now that the game will lose its luster (at least from a hatred standpoint). Hopefully, the conference will add North Carolina and Virginia in a decade or two so MSU and Indiana can head west.

I'd love to see Iowa play PSU regularly. You guys have a pretty cool thing going with them. I was loving when Nebraska was getting to play PSU every year...but then it was taken away like thief in the night!! Dang you conference expansion!!! #GBR

A Nebraska fan is cursing conference expansion...? o_O

For Ol' Doodle it goes in this order:

Penn State (this had already turned into one hell of a rivalry. Clear #1 in Doodle's humble opinion.)
Michigan (our recent success against them probably makes it easier to pick them #2)
Michigan State (long term we probably fare better in W/L v. Sparty than UM, but disdain for Dantonio makes it #3)
Ohio State (we've only won like 5-6 times in the past half-century, but would still rather face Bucks yearly than the three below)
Indiana (at least it's a traditional Big Ten foe....and one against whom we have some pretty colorful history, esp. last 30 yrs)
Maryland (Meh)
Rutgers (Meh x Infinity)

What(gulp) Doodle said.

I wonder who is the Nittany Lions protected cross rival? Does the BIG even have that anymore? Sorry if this is old news, I just don't know.

By the way Atlanta how are the Dawg fans there? Since moving out west to Phoenix I haven't encountered many. I apologize for any idiotic Gator fans up there on behalf of GatorNation.

Pluto, with the expansion to 14 teams, there are no protected crossover games remaining except Indiana and Purdue. They play every year. I linked the relevant wiki information below. If it's still there when you read it, I claim credit for the last sentence in the section. :D

Dawg fans are doing well. I actually married a UGA grad so I try to keep up with them as much as possible. I will say this though, when NU beat them in the Gator Bowl last year she was a WAY bigger sore loser than I was the year before. Goodness...she was pissed for 2 days after. That's what you get when you marry a passionate fan! There is definitely no love for the Gators from the UGA camp. They're mainly wondering who the starting QB is going to be, and if this is the year to finally get an SEC title. Their fans are getting restless. Can't be easy to pound Mizzou earlier in the year and then watch them go to the title game b/c you blew it against Florida. They have a good squad this year, and Nick Chubb is the real deal.

Thanks for the info RecruitingV, I remember when you guys first expanded and they made the matchups. Some made sense like OSU and MICH but I didn't understand the history of some of the others. That last part was funny, sad and true all rolled in one. Bravo.

Well I'm sure she's a lovely person minus the dawg fandom, just kidding. I will tell you last years game almost made the whole Muschamp era worth it....but not quite. I'm hearing big talk on the Gator Board from Dawg fans.

I tell them to get their chops in now because Coach Mac is gonna bring the Chomp back. I think this will be a down year for the SEC as a whole but Georgia may finally catch the brass ring.
