"At first, they were too scared of the press being too tough on them in the debates. Now they are scared of three-year-old orphans," the president said. "That doesn't seem so tough to me."

Cruz addressed the president's remarks after an event on Capitol Hill, taking issue with what he called "cheap insults" made on foreign soil.

"If you want to insult me, you can do it overseas, you can do it in Turkey, you can do it in foreign countries, but come back and insult me to my face," Cruz said to NBC News. "Let's have a debate on Syrian refugees right now. We can do it anywhere you want....It's easy to toss a cheap insult where no one can respond."

What's funny is when he says stuff like "how are they going to be able to deal with Putin if they can't deal with a media moderator," when Putin has pretty much pushed Obama around like a little sibling for the last 7 years.

If by "pushed around" you mean driving his economy to the brink of economic ruin, losing ties to strategic allies, becoming a virtual international pariah, and making his citizens more vulnerable to terrorism. Yeah, Putin's a real winner. He's a ham-handed, totalitarian blowhard. I'm sure the right pop a woody over him as he's so much like a Russian W.

Obama's "tough" is to draw a line with a laser pointer.

I can't stand the guy. He's a totalitarian. But its kind of funny that the left sees Putin as so evil and such a threat now, when back after the debate when Romney called out Russia, you all mocked him for living in the past.

And give a whackjob like Cruz great press? No thanks. Why legitimize his hate mongering?

Cruz graduated cum laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy[43] from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in 1992.[5][7] While at Princeton, he competed for the American Whig-Cliosophic Society's Debate Panel and won the top speaker award at both the 1992 U.S. National Debating Championship and the 1992 North American Debating Championship.[44] In 1992, he was named U.S. National Speaker of the Year, and with his debate partner David Panton won Team of the Year.[44] Cruz and Panton represented Harvard Law School at the 1995 World Debating Championship, but lost in the semi-finals to a team from Australia.[45][46][47] Princeton's debate team later named their annual novice championship after Cruz.[47]

Cruz's senior thesis investigated the separation of powers; its title, Clipping the Wings of Angels, draws its inspiration from a passage attributed to US President James Madison: "If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary." Cruz argued that the drafters of the Constitution intended to protect the rights of their constituents, and that the last two items in the Bill of Rights offer an explicit stop against an all-powerful state.[31][48]

After graduating from Princeton, Cruz attended Harvard Law School, graduating magna cum laude in 1995 with a Juris Doctor degree.[7][49] While at Harvard Law, he was a primary editor of the Harvard Law Review, and executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, and a founding editor of the Harvard Latino Law Review.[5] Referring to Cruz's time as a student at Harvard Law, Professor Alan Dershowitz said, "Cruz was off-the-charts brilliant".[50][51][52][53] At Harvard Law, Cruz was a John M. Olin Fellow in Law and Economics.[11]

Gotta agree with this. Putin hasn't been kind to Russia. All his antics have accomplished are less economic prosperity, heavy sanctions, and an overall decreased quality of life for his citizens. Additionally if Putin was such a badass and great protector, then how did he allow one of his planes to get shot down by ISIS? Call Obama a pussy if you want, but he wasn't the one to let ISIS destroy one of his planes and then lie about it afterwards.

Who thinks Putin is much of a threat? His country is in shambles.

And yet, he is still getting his ass handed to him by idiots like Trump and Carson. If Cruz can't even beat these two, what makes you think he has the goods to beat a guy who has actually won the White House, not once, but twice?

Admit it, this is nothing more than a desperate attempt for Cruz to bolster his polling numbers. He needs Obama, not the other way around.

Isn't Cruz tossing a cheap insult where Obama can't respond?
No he is replying( quite brilliantly) to a cheap shot. But in reality that's all BHO has been throwing these last few years. Even the main stream media has called him words like petulant. Not a good thing when his main defenders start telling the truth

He didn't say he was an idiot, he said he was a whack-job. You can be smart and still crazy. Where do you think super-villains come from?

I don't see him as a threat to The U.S.. Nobody on the left ever brings him up, other than to counter some on the right who seem to think he's a great leader.

Obama is a huge pussy which Cruz pointed out. Let's see if Obama has any guts at all. I bet not.

This is igonrant. Nowhere in his speech did he say these words. Link to transcript of speech.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...c4011a-d168-11e4-a62f-ee745911a4ff_story.html

Here's the best part of THAT speech:

Imagine a teenage boy, not much younger than many of you here today, growing up in Cuba. Jet black hair, skinny as a rail.

Involved in student council, and yet Cuba was not at a peaceful time. The dictator, Batista, was corrupt, he was oppressive. And this teenage boy joins a revolution. He joins a revolution against Batista, he begins fighting with other teenagers to free Cuba from the dictator. This boy at age 17 finds himself thrown in prison, finds himself tortured, beaten. And then at age 18, he flees Cuba, he comes to America.

Who vetted Rafael Cruz? How do we know he isn't a commie infiltrator and part of a sleeper cell. Maybe Ted is part of the plan to destroy this country. Rubio, too. His mom made repeated trips back to communist Cuba. We need to round up all those Cuban "refugees" and their families and let TNK85...ahem...solve the problem.

Right?

That's not a sleeper cell, that's a dirt nap. Isn't Cruz's father deceased?

What Cruz fails to recognize is that you don't get the right to challenge the champ when you're still
Cruz gets my vote.
Which is a big piece of irony behind this dust up. On one hand you may think it helps the Republicans because they are calling out Obama. But on the other hand, it will probably help bolster Cruz's numbers to make him a bigger player in the election, which will help the Democrats.
