If she was paying BOTH fees, how can she get regarded as a “ double dipper”?A lady I taught with in Carroll ISD, previously taught in Brownwood, Texas(west Texas area) and she told me out there, she was paying Social Security Taxes(FICA) and TRS ( Teacher Retirement of Texas) taxes. When she retired from Carroll and from teaching, she would only be collecting half of her Social Security benefit because she was labeled a double dipper. For myself(as a teacher), I have only paid into TRS.But I have worked in the private sector prior to becoming a teacher and I have enough credits to get my full SS benefit.
Because she would have been drawing on those accounts. It did not matter with your scenario of working the PT job. She would lose about 2/3 of her SS benefit because of the WEP & GPO laws that were in place. If she was paying BOTH fees, how can she get regarded as a “ double dipper”?
What about public employees who worked PT jobs who paid a SS tax for those jobs?
Let me make a modest proposal:
From now on, all income is subject to social security taxation.
All retirees are entitled to full benefits based on their contributions.
No it's allowing them to get benefits from paying in from a job they had prior to the public service a second job during the public service or a job after they retire from public service.I guess I'm not following. Our local larger fire/police agencies do not pay into ss, therefore they do not get to draw ss when they retire. Is this allowing them to draw ss without having to pay in?
I thought U agreed with what you said… it’s not like she wasn’t paying in and has a stipend coming her way.Because she would have been drawing on those accounts. It did not matter with your scenario of working the PT job. She would lose about 2/3 of her SS benefit because of the WEP & GPO laws that were in place.
