Cullan Schriever

My son is friends with Cullan. No talk of repeating 8th grade. Probably wrestle for Dusty at MC, but you never know with wrestlers. Strong ties to Sebolt. Kid has done all the big national tourneys (the actual invite ones) and hasn't lost in at least a couple years. We will see how much he grows. There are some 17 year old 115lb kids droppibg to 103. That's a big size and age difference, but Cullan is as good as Iowa 8th grader in a long time. Big Iowa Fan.
Cullan Schriever of Iowa Black went 7-3
84 - Cullan Schriever (Iowa Black) over Tyler Lamon (Minions Green) TF 24-8
84 - Cullan Schriever (Iowa Black) over Conner Redinger (Team PA Silver) Dec 4-1
84 - Chris Kim (Team PA Gold) over Cullan Schriever (Iowa Black) Dec 3-0
84 - Cullan Schriever (Iowa Black) over Unknown (Unattached) Forf
84 - Cullan Schriever (Iowa Black) over Kellyn March (Legends of Gold) SV-1 3-1
84 - Cullan Schriever (Iowa Black) over Sean Seefeldt (Team Ohio White) Dec 9-3
84 - Jacob Rivera (Team California ) over Cullan Schriever (Iowa Black) Dec 3-2
84 - Cullan Schriever (Iowa Black) over Joey Olivieri (Scorpions Black) Dec 8-4
84 - Anthony Ferrari (Buxton School of Wrestling) over Cullan Schriever (Iowa Black) Dec 3-2
84 - Cullan Schriever (Iowa Black) over Jesse Mendez (Illinois Orange) Dec 5-2

This was last month. Maybe you weren't counting dual tournaments.

I really think that some guy is ****ing with us by creating the caricature of SanSouci.

I think so as well. And for some reason I can't get enough.

He so totally typifies the elitist attitude of those who used to live on Sans Souci island in Waterloo. It's great.

He is an 8th grader weighing around 85lbs and very talented. My guess is he and his twin brother will wrestle for Mason City, but not the 2016-17 year. (Just a guess) His Sebolt teammate Eric Faught went the same route.
Not that far from Apple Valley.

Cullan is from Lake Mills, IA. He doesn't want to wrestle 1A therefore the move to mason city. His parents moved to Tennessee or are in the process of moving and cullan and I presume his brother are staying in mason city, with sebolt? Who knows. Has many family members in lake mills but is opting to live elsewhere. Kid really is the real deal but has lived and breathed wrestling for 365 days for the last few years and I'm not sure if it'll take a Toll on him or not. 82 pound 8th grader and doesn't seem like his body is gonna grow much in the next year or so. Wish him the best.

WOW!?! I love wrestle more then most, but under no circumstance would I split my family to this degree. Not sure if I could handle being just half way across the state let alone multiple states away.

Tbh, I'm flabbergasted by his parents supporting such a situation.

Thanks for the info. This is what I was looking for when I started the thread.

actually I haven't checked in a month or so, so that is why I thought he hadn't lost in a couple years. I figured he'd eventually lose. he recently was out for an extended amount of time with a dislocated elbow. I think he came back in the last couple months.

They were elitist because they lived on a nasty stinking piece of land in the fork of a nasty river? that's classic. if he really is who he portrays himself to be that is unbelievably awesome.

In my opinion, Sebolt is doing something right. Having four champs at Tulsa in one year doesn't happen by accident.
sansouci- You are still haunted by your 0-2 bbq at sectionals all four years. Quit gloatin about your kids that you don't have.

Well, that depends on your definition of "doing something right"? There's no doubt he has talent and a good chunk of his kids are winning a lot. But at what cost? I'm pretty involved with youth wrestling and I've seen his kids in their Superman singlets wrestle a lot. I also know how much they practice and how intense they go. I've seen many kids get burned out and I question how much he pushes these young kids.

I haven't been around youth wrestling in 15 years, and have no idea about the certain situations you listed. Every coach/parent has their own opinion how to raise/teach kids. I bet 95% of his kids are training there, because they want to be there. If I had to guess his club can be compared to a club 15+ years ago-Hawkeye Wrestling Kids when I was a kid. Every kid wearing that gear was tough as nails, running thru tourneys and eventually producing tons of hs and college talent, which I think sebolt was a part of.

That's my time too low. The difference between seebolt is the rest of them is he was home schooled. Who knows how many hours of "class" each day were focused on wrestling and school.

Yeah, okay. Who the #*%# are you? You don't know shit.

How can my kids lose at sectionals if I don't have any? Drink up, dummy.

"They want to be there"--no doubt this is true for many but sometimes you have to actually be a parent and not let your kid call the shots. Like, for instance, when your 6 year old thinks he needs to be in tournaments every weekend and wrestle at nationals.

If their is a way to get burned out, it's wrestling for TJ Sebolt.

It's funny to me that you keep saying this yet you have never stepped foot in the Sebolt room. Sebolt practices three times per week, and twice per week when the kids are competing on Sunday. You said in another thread that your kids wrestled in four different clubs inside of a week. Burnout must not come from too many practices, just from tough ones?

Be proud that your kid had an opportunity to represent Iowa at Nuway, but your ego is really running with this. You know that he went 1-5, right?

I know you said it's fun to have Schriever in your kid's bracket, but I'm guessing the next time it won't be quite so fun! Your kid can thank you for that.

Wait a minute. His kids actually exist?
