Current D1 Players from IA

You can't prosper with just Iowa recruits but if you are able to get Iowa Mr. Basketball and the runner up every year you are going to have some talented players. Would have been interesting to have Harrison Barnes and Doug McDermot the year they graduated stay in Iowa.

Mr Basketball, as in Wyatt Lohaus...........I think he won Mr Basketball for Iowa twice.

The span from Barnes/McDermott to Jok has to be the best collective 4 year run for Iowa talent ever.

In between those years you had Uthoff, Washpun, Woody, Gessel, Paige, Lohause, Morgan and Dondre Alexander.

And not a single one went to ISU.

If you could have got them all on one team you'd probably have a couple final 4s.

If Iowa got all the best Iowa kids every year, they'd contend for the Big Ten title every year. Just because you're from Iowa doesn't mean you can't play anymore than just because you're from Michigan or NY or California or Ohio means you can. The talking heads don't get that, but I'd think most Iowans would. The evidence is pretty clear, but I know facts are not cool.

I somewhat agree. Iowa is a little underrated as far as talent goes. I think our 2005 team had almost all Iowa kids starting and finished runner-up and won the BTT. This year's team is very similar with Woody, Uthoff, Jok, and Baer all contributing. The next few years looks to see lots of Iowa kids on our roster with some Illinois kids mixed in as well. I like it.

This run wasn't too bad either:

Dean Oliver '97
Ricky Davis '97
Kyle Korver '99
Kirk Hinrich '99
Nick Collison '99

If you stretch one more year and add '94 you can add Ryan Bowen and Raef LaFrentz.

Iowa City West probably has 6 d1 players on their team right now (5 for sure, just assuming 1 rises).

Iowa City West does have 5 D1 players, and in theory they should win every game. The only problem is that basketball isn't a perfect game. Sometimes the best team or most talented team doesn't win. I'm surprised they have lost some games this year with all their talent but that's basketball. Kind of what we just witnessed at Penn State last night.
