I saw an interview that was posted of Dale Jones. It definitely gave me hope for his recovery. He mentioned his previous surgery not being done properly the first time. That, and he is moving along ahead of schedule. This is very good to hear!

His recovery time from his last surgery was 10 months. He also said that he was going full-steam at that point, That he felt fine after the recovery from his previous knee surgery.

So, hopefully with a far greater surgical team and treatment program he recovers even sooner. With a much better knee that is ready to play! The beginning of next season will be 11 months from his surgery. If he can be 100% at 8 months, instead of 11, he will be playing before the official practice starts.

It would be great for this young man to finish his senior season strong(although he may get a 6th year medical redshirt). A healthy Dale Jones would be incredibly welcome next year! Here is to a speedy recovery and a happy and healthy Hawkeye!

That's great news. I think Dale plays a lot for us next year. He and Cook should make a nice 1-2 punch.

I liked what I saw from Jones in his limited time. His measurables are terrific. Hopefully his defense will catch up to his natural offensive ability next year.

Guy can fill it. I wonder if we slump this year if he was in the lineup.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Jones was definitely hitting from 3 early on. Who knows if he would have continued to have similar success as the season went on, but him even just being a threat from the perimeter should have taken more pressure off Uthoff and Jok.

Dale Jones was a huge loss last year...he could have been the best three point shooter on the team...other than Jok. Where we missed him was rebounding. He can sweep the glass and he's physical. If he comes back healthy...it's huge for next year.

Jones would have been the player to bridge the gap between upper classmen and the under classmen.

Jones might have been the 3 with Jok playing the 2.

PG Gesell backup Clemmons
SG 6'6 Jok backup Ellingson/Fleming
SF 6'8 Jones backup Uhl/Baer
PF 6'9 Uthoff backup Wagner
C 7'1 Woodbury backups would have seen more 2 guard 3 forward lineups.

this would have allowed Clemmons and Gesell to rest and relieve the pressure on the FR and the rest of the starters.

in over 100 years of IA's history of BB IA as won just 8 BT championships are some of you that pathetic to bash Gesell for not winning 1 OR the fact that IA has been to just 3 FF's in that same period.

my god people grow up, and get off whatever high horse you are sitting on.

I am looking forward to seeing what a healthy Dale Jones does this season. His injury hurt this past year, but the experience that Baer and Uhl got in his absence will be very valuable this year. Coach McCaffery could spread the floor by having 5 legitimate 3 point shooting threats on the court at a time.

Great thread guys....like and agree with the thoughts on Jones and love the beast comment from Hoop on Jones.

After listening to the vids from Tom on page 1 with Baer, Dale and Moss I hope folks can get excited about the possibilities with next year's team......man I sure am.

Dale said he broke some records shooting the ball playing JC ball and that is no fluke. His stroke like Peter's is silky smooth. Those two on the floor together with Baer and with Moss per Fran is a great outside shooter as well. Again, the possibilities....??

Can't wait for PTL even though Dale cannot play yet.
