Daniel Dennis Wildman Episode 2

Great job again Flo. These docs alone are worth the admission .
Thanks again.

Speaking of content, I think they portray Dan as more of a free spirit and almost guru type personality than a wild man. He definitely has a wild man side to him, but it seems like he has a carefree side also that makes him a bit of an enigma in the wrestling world.
I just keep thinking of Dave Schultz when I listen to stories about Dan. What a great ambassador for the sport and for the HWC and the Hawks. He may have to clean up his mouth a little bit though if he gets an ESPN or ABC interview at the Olympics. :)

These last two episodes have been very entertaining. You can see how other wrestlers could have easily gravitated to him maybe more than Tony. Not a dig on TRam (sorta), just saying that it's very hard to not like a guy like Dennis.

PS I think his cussing is funny. His mouth is always going but he's humble at the same time.

There's a delay, they can use their bleeper.

After watching this, it occurred to me that these videos and recent happenings just do not support the narrative that Iowa guys are robots or don't have any fun. Just look at all the characters we have had recently that highlight Iowa. Daniel Dennis: A modern Jack Kerouac type who wanders off into the mountains to find himself, comes back and makes the Olympic team. Sammy Brooks: Stoically gives a post match interview after winning the B1G and addresses the complexities of having a good mullet. Terry Brands: A "crazy" competitor that has lost and had real pain in the sport but the video showed just how much he cares about the guys he's coaching. Even when Spencer committed, he specifically addressed the robot narrative and he saw something totally different. Mike Evan's stache and personality. Lastly, you look at a guy like Metcalf. I don't think there has been a feature on him but he has a hell of a backstory. After losing in the Trials, he sat at the podium and showed the world what he was about as a man and competitor and how much passion he has for the sport of wrestling.

I would trade titles for "personalities" any day but nobody can accuse us of not having passion or having fun.

Loved both episodes; just awesome. I'm all in with Flo...love that I can watch wrestling year round and get to know the up and coming recruits that we should be hungry for. Plus, I've been able to dig into the international freestyle stuff more than before. And the documentaries (not just the Iowa related ones) are awesome. I think it's notable that Terry is invisible in the Dennis series. I assume that this is by his choice; not wanting to stoke the flames around the Ramos controversy.

Loved the topic, but the documentary was not one of their best. Seemed too choppy to me with the scene selections. Maybe that's a way of depicting the unpredictable-ness of Dennis, I don't know. I'd be lying if I said I was blown away after watching it last night. I think the story could have been told better, but time was short I imagine.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. I loved Dennis, but the story wasn't told real well. It seemed like they were rushing it, which makes total sense.

Does anyone know if Dennis plans to stay around for another cycle? He is turning into one of my favorite Hawks of my lifetime.

Not every profile is going to be like Terry's...that was a year in the making. Think what they try to do is show the personal side and the wrestling side. IMO, they accomplished that.

Nice to see people appreciate the time and effort it takes to make a not bad video to a good video to a great one.
Think Flo had a quick turn around on this one cause the Dan Dennis train is going full steam ahead right now.
