Defend this

Wow John Hopkins and Notre Dame won conference championship, of sports nobody gives a crap about

You're right, my excitement for the upcoming sports seasons are definitely down following the failure of the Iowa Women's Rowing team to clinch a title last year.

INEXCUSABLE!

And yet finished ahead of ISU and 4 other BIG12 programs in cup standings. Guess that's the price you pay for being in a legit power 5 conference.

Wait, ISU fans are mocking Iowa for where we finished in the cup standings, and we finished ahead of ISU?

Too funny. I guess that would fall into their "yeah but at least we KNOW we suck" logic.

MuskyCy it's tough to defend when our A.D. is a sacless wussy who is A-O.K. with mediocrity. I know you know whats tough to defend bc your a clown fan so why not some understanding on this sensitive matter?

As soon as you explain the large influx of Nebby and clone fans coming on here.....I am bright enough to not talk shit to teams who we lost to and or finished higher than us. I’m not going to a Wisconsin board or a Bama board pounding my chest because......well that’s just stupid- so I guess I am trying to say you are stupid lol

Hawkeyes were only 1 championship away from being in the top half of the league in conference championships won.

It was never nirvana; I will give you that. But over the past thirty years it has descended into the bowels of hell.
Is it that bad? Granted I haven't seen much of it but was there a couple years ago and it seemed a hell of a lot better than Clinton

Saying "it is better than Clinton" is about as complimentary as saying "it is better than Jalalabad." Clinton and Burlington could both stake claims to being the worst place in Iowa.

Very true. Unfortunately a lot of the river towns seem to have gone downhill

Muscatine used to have a solid manufacturing base. Hon, Heinz, Bandag, GPC, Monsanto. People could support a family on one income back in the 70s and 80s. Bandag quit making tires here a long time ago. GPC pushed out the union. Now literally every major manufacturing employer in town hires people through temp agencies. The wages here are dramatically lower than in Iowa City or even the QC. We now have regular drive by's and our schools are a disaster. Honestly, I am looking at getting out.

Sorry but Des Moines is light years ahead of CR, IC and it's not really close.
Agree. It’s the only place worth bringing out of staters to when they visit. Music, restaurants, sports, bike trails, golf courses, disc golf, water activities, amusement parks, casino, biggest airport, & the best nightlife & bar scene in the state.

I've lived in all three, lived in CR until 2012, moved out to Des Moines, I get back to CR regularly to see family, I know CR has made some nice strides with Newbo and some interesting new places downtown, but it isn't close. Just way more $$$ here and an investor community committed to moving the city ahead.

Agreed. I lived in DM metro until 1996 when I left for college. I haven’t lived there since but make it back frequently. I can’t believe the progress the city has made in the last 22 years. How much more there is to do & fun downtown has become!
