Today, former Lt. Governor Judy Judge said that she will
run for the Senate seat of Charles Grassley. Her motive
for the contest came when Grassley refused to hold hearings
for the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court.

A.K.A....Patty Judge, right? She's "old school" Democrat from the Albia area originally. She will call a spade a spade. She's about 160 degrees opposite of Joni Ernst. Don't piss her (Patty) off....If things break as political things could break, Chuck might only win this election by 4-5 points. I might have to vote twice for her.

And you know what? There will be voters thinking that's who they're voting for.

Patty Judge is not in Judge Judy's class. In fact, Patty Judge, the real former Lt. Governor of Iowa, has no class.

I met Senator Grassley once. He was flying coach. As I walked past him to my seat, he smiled at me, reached out and shook my hand and said "nice to meet you". He initiated this entirely on his own. I told him I thought he was doing a great job and he gave me a sincere "thank you".

Chuck has been a great senator. We have been lucky to have him.

and yet I feel I have NO representation in the US Senate.
ol' Chuck is a political hack. Tell me something he has done as a US Senator, please. He has done "nothing" but not much more. He's a liar and a teller of half truths. His "death panel" statement might be one of the dumbest statements ever made by a US Senator.......... and that might be out done by his recent refusal to fulfill his role as a Senator to vet SCJustice candidates for the lamest of lame reasons...a rerason that only a politician could espouse. It's time for the ol' Chuckster to retire...and he ain't smart enough to understand that. Hopefully, "we the people" will advise him next November.

Isn't Judge the one who mocked Branstad by saying he kept Joy Corning chained to a card table in the basement of the Iowa State Capital?

Funny I am on a plane right now out of Des Moines and he is on it in coach.

Oh, you lucky guy! Ask him why he doesn't stay in DC and so his work for me, please. Gawd knows there is work to do.
Oh I don't like him, but I just thought it was ironic someone posted about the time they were on a flight with him and I just walked passed him. Hopefully he is headed back to DC.

Enjoy your flight. Ask Chuck if he goin' back to DC to work or sight-see. ;) Obviously, its a long time until November and he has promised us all that Congress ain't doin' any more work for this lame duck POTUS.

oh crap, they are from albia? there used to be a bunch of judges out there by Georgetown, by iowa's little Ireland, I think the priest was named judge at the Georgetown catholic shurch

One thing about Judge is she would give Chuck a fight if she gets the nomination. Chuck hasn't had a real opponent in two elections, I think.

The ol' Joelster will be freaking out all election if the ol' Chuckster wins again.

I can't wait.

Correction. I don't think he's had a real challenge in at least four elections. The early criticism against Judge is she's in the pocket of big ag. Good. She'll need them to go up against Grassley. He's already given her one great issue. If she sells well in the sticks she may have a chance. The last several candidates have been to liberal.

It is fairly well known that Grassley returns home each weekend and rarely misses anything important in Washington. You may or may not agree with him, but casting aspersions on his work ethic is completely off base.

except building "working relationships" with other Congressmen/Congresswomen.....this is one of the BIG reasons things don't get done in DC any more. When I went to school, I stayed on campus most weekends...I didn't need to come home to find my fun.

Whatever, Grassley has plenty of working relationships with fellow Senators, etc. You are delusional if you think that Grassley not "hanging with the Dem's" on the weekends has any bearing whatsoever on getting things done in Washington. Grassley often meets with constituents while back in Iowa, something that many appreciate.

Your college days and the schedule of a US Senator bear little resemblance.

Well, I am not a pompous a-hole who refuses to do my job. Grassley needs to be retired. He's a party hack who's been exposed as a liar more than once. He will always be remembered by Big Pharma for his work on allowing them to sit at the table and write the RX rules for MediCare. They will always be beholding to the ol' Chuckster. His latest position (on the SC Justice hearings) makes no sense at all. Even a clear thinking Iowan would understand that Chuck is using the SC vacancy as a political football. His "give the people a voice" stance is pure, unadulterated BS. What the hell was the general election in 2012 about? In that one "we the people" chose Obama AGAIN.......It is Obama's decision to nominate a qualified candidate. Senators and Congressmen spend entirely too much time away from DC. The bastards are too busy raising money for re-election and not nearly enough time doing the people's work.

LOL! Now, when cornered, you come out with several other arguments against Grassley...none of which were part of this thread until you introduced them.

Well wrestler, you vote for Chuck and I'll vote for Patty (or Krause) and then we'll count the votes. Your side will undoubtedly win. However, that does not change the fact that the Congress is incapable of doing its job, it is racked by "politics" and that Senators of long-standing , like Grassley, are certainly a large part of the problem. Again, I cannot think of anything legislatively the ol' Chuckster has accomplished. Perhaps the most positive thing he has accomplished was to intervene for the Clive family and have Missouri authorities review their role in the death of their son this past summer at the hands of the Missouri Highway patrol.

Curious if your anecdote is supposed to support your conclusion or just two very different thoughts?
