Fair enough. How old are you? the first time you remember republicans doing something stupid may not be the first time I remember them doing something stupid. Some on this board are in their 70s and some are in their 20s. You sound like a jaded old man who can't let go of the past and therefore you are unwilling to accept something changing. Fair enough, I feel that way about things as well. I was an independent up until recently. I voted for Bush, Obama, did not vote, did not vote, Biden, Trump. I have been equally critical of both sides up until recently.
I started this thread calling for dems to step it up. Trump has single handedly changed the republican party. I think what he is doing is progress. He is most definitely crude around the edges, but since he has been elected, I have even seen him behaving better (as best he is able). Trump received a lot of flack for not acting presidential, so now he is making an effort to act presidential, even if you might not perceive it that way. Trump was not taken seriously during his first term, this time he has a very specific agenda. He has the power to make changes if the republicans demand it.
Someone started a thread the other day about slut shaming. On the surface this seems stupid, but in reality, it was calling for accountability and pride in the way you dress and how you act. Trump criticized the way Zelensky dressed, this is the start of calling for the accountability you want. If you care enough to dress appropriately, then you may also act appropriately. If they criticize Zelensky for the way he dressed, the next step is to criticize MTG for the way she dressed. It is a snowball effect. So stop criticizing the things that will make the changes you want to see.
Republicans don't want accountability for how they dress, how they act, or what they say. When that happens they cry about getting "canceled" or that someone is "trying to silence them."
