Not all recruitting is done to get the specific kid, sometimes it is done to build relationships with coaches.
Couldn't agree more...Iowa coaches do an outstanding job of "digging" for those diamonds in the rough. It's tricky business, requires a keen eye, and can reap outstanding rewards. I'm very proud our Hawks limit their scholarship offers, and recruits know/have been told that an Iowa offer can open many doors previously closed. Another reason our camps are so popular, too ~ it's a great opportunity to earn a Hawkeye offer.Exactly. Iowa does not waste time handing out offers to everyone with a pulse. Some teams do. Iowa does their homework. I feel we are getting higher level recruits even though their star ranking may not be that high. Kids who do not attend the camps do not get the exposure and often times get overlooked or under ranked.
Keep ‘em coming Hawks!
they do pretty well with TEs as well. When it comes to DB, OL, or DL, it shouldn't matter their ranking if we offer. Our coaches have proven time and time again they can evaluate those positions better then the recruiting sites. If our coaches like a guy at any of those spots, I trust them completely.
Yes they do. Wasn't Hock a 5.5 3star. obviously not Highly ranked. I remember thinking this guy has done alot as a receiver in high school, is an excellent athlete, has great TE size already and has been evaluated by TE factory Iowa. We will see he was underrated at the end of his career, but not by the Iowa staffthey do pretty well with TEs as well.
