Heading there later this month for a few days of golf. Any course we need to play?
Prefer courses in the $50-80 range.
Staying on the westside of town (WDM/Waukee)
Would prefer to play on the westside of town to limit driving.
One day we'll play 36 and thinking Willow Creek & The Legacy since they are close to one another.

Let me know your thoughts!

Beaver Creek is another option out west and has 27 holes. Willow and Legacy were the two others I'd suggest based on what you're looking for.

Too bad WDM/Waukee suck for public courses. Even DMGCC is the most overrated course in the area. Play Legacy, TCI, Jester, or Waveland. River Valley is in Adel so it’s kind of near you, but the other courses I listed are better.

Hearing pleasant creek has really upped their game the past few years!

This should have just been a rank 'em. In order I would go with TCI, Waveland, Legacy, Beaver Creek.

Not a slight on Jester, it just happens to be the only public course in the metro I have never played. More lack of info on my part than an intentional rank. I'll put it on the list this summer.
The south 9 at Beaver is fun. I've gone out there and just played that twice instead of the other 18.

I hate that at Waveland, I never seemingly have a shot on flat ground the entire round.
I was going to add this but didn't want to piss on the parade.

Its worth playing because it's old. It's not a good golf course.

A good golf course rewards good shots and penalize bad, you can be dead nuts down the fairway at the wave and have a shitty lie.

Fun facts about TCI:
It is the only Audubon Society certified course in Iowa.
It is and Arnold Palmer signature course. Anybody have any factual information on Arnold Palmer?

Amen.

Didn't Toad Valley dump a shit ton of money into the course last year?
Might have to give that another run if that's the case.

I would skip Willow Creek. It's crap and too expensive for being so crap. I'd do Jester/Beaver Creek and Legacy instead.
Haven't played Willow in at least 5 years. Has it really fallen that much? If so, that's too bad.

It's the wrong way, but Panora is better than any public course listed so far not named TCI and it's half the price of all of them.

The problem is that would be your 18 that day. It's 45 minutes from everything else.

Save your $$ at Willow…I’d suggest Blank, Echo (if you know a member) Legacy or maybe a drive to Indianola (easy drive)…Waveland too…hopefully the weather is decent…

We did the following 5 last year. Did Bos on the way in and then had a little wider range on the other days. My favorite in order was:

TCI
Coldwater (Ames)
Bos Landen (Pella)
Waveland
Otter Creek

Bos in the Spring can be a difficult place to play if it is windy. Coldwater is a lot of fun. Otter Creek is my fav Polk county muni. I always find Waveland interesting. Sometimes the greens are really shitty, (rough, unkept) though. TCI is always in good shape…and the last 4 holes can be KILLERS.
