Des Moines gets the tourney back 1st/2nd round in 2019!

It was a blast last year. And just a great thing for DSM.
Awesome, awesome. I had the chance to attend some of the games last year. Awesome environment. Des Moines did it up right ... The new convention hotel will be complete and downtown Des Moines continues to flourish ... I am pumped ... If you get the chance to take in one of the sessions I highly recommend it. Great experience. Kudos to the city ... and to Drake ... for making this happen.
Tickets will be off the charts price wise with Iowa in town. I work downtown it is def an exciting time and that week was insane. Des Moines will be in the 3-5 year cycle everytime going forward. Would be huge to land a Regional final here down the road.
The best part is that it pretty much guarantees that some of this damn construction and road work will be done by then
Definitely nice to see Des Moines stay in the rotation ... Yeah, a regional shot would be incredible ... One thing for sure, Iowans show up at these events and Des Moines often times leads in attendance or is toward the top ... We aren't a California or New York where there are 5,000 other events taking place ...
Yep, every event in DSM recently has blown the doors off other sites. Wrestling was off the charts, Drake dominates every year with the relays. Track and field chamionship stuff was off the charts, womens tourney blew it away and now Mens here. Only concern with a Regional is if they view Wells to be too small? So silly if they do since those 30k arenas are 1/3 full and the Well will be sold out.

Assuming that Iowa or Iowa State is a high enough seed to get put into Des Moines, yes. This current Iowa roster certainly has a specific goal to work toward. Venue would certainly be crazy if Iowa were good enough to get placed in Des Moines.
I'm assuming they'd need to be at least a 3 seed or higher. Maybe a 4 but that'd be stretching it.
Concessions sucked despite no alcohol sales due to NCAA rules. Somewhat fixed by Saturday session.
Proximity of bars to venue made the atmosphere great, as the the beer garden setup in Nollen Plaza.
The problems were:
1) Concessions on Thursday
2) Men's Bathrooms (Lines were 20 deep while women's were deserted.) Needed to change a few women's to mens since it was probably 4-1 men to women ratio
3) Concourse too narrow. There were a few spots on the street side where the concourse was jam packed. Need to move some of the vendor carts away from there but otherwise can't do much.
4) Time between sessions. There was too narrow of time between sessions. Everyone had to leave then come back in and with first game running slow, over half the crowd was late getting back in for second session. (The Hyvee hall between game room was good but needed a few more food options.)
5) Merchandise was lacking. Very little with Des Moines on it. Much of the Merchandise completely sold out before Saturday started.
That being said, I bought 8 tickets EARLY and could of easily had twice that many friends going with. Great time.
If you want tickets at face value, buy them in March/April 2018 sine they sold fast a year in advance.
If Iowa or Iowa State makes it, you are only going to be able to buy tickets second hand for a markup. If they BOTH make it, expect tickets to be extremely high. (With pod placement, they could be in different regions but still play first two rounds in Des Moines.)

IU fan that attended last year in Des Moines. Very good job and I am glad they were rewarded by hosting again in the near future.
