I saw he was wearing 17 and not his usual 80. Did they mention anything about that on either the radio or TV broadcast? I can only assume a position change since we were thin at CB.

It had me stumped as well as I could never see the last name. Just knew a black guy with dreads playing special teams with the number 17. Had no clue who it was.

Correct. He was doing pregame stuff with the secondary guys.

Is Trey Creamer still on the team? Is he injured? If he isn't injured then I would assume he's no longer part of our future plans at DB.

Why do you assume that?

There are travel roster limits. Devonte plays special teams, so he travels. If Creamer is only a backup DB, I can see why he wouldn't travel, even if he is higher on DB pecking order than Young.

I realize all of that. Just that I believe he was mentioned in the spring some and was being given consideration for making the two deeps this fall. Yet, it looks like he has been passed up by several people including a couple of true freshman. I would think as thin as we are right now with healthy DB's that he would have traveled (not saying he didn't). Just seems odd that we are seeing two true freshmen ahead of him and are moving WR's to the position mid-season and yet he has been invisible (not even playing on special teams to my recollection). That's why I was wondering if perhaps he had been injured. If not, then he has several players his age or younger that have apparently surpassed him this season.

Trey creamer fell off of a cliff. He was second string in the spring. I don't have any info, but I'm speculating transfer.

Creamer and Turner both seem to have been jumped. Phil seems to be pretty decisive on deciding who can play and who can’t. Lots of great players but also lots of transfers and guys who never play.

Phil also seems pretty high on DJ Johnson too.

Also, Turner has been listed as having played in each and every game too. Turner still has the opportunity to continue to earn the trust of the coaches through special teams play.

Phil is decisive about the guys who he trusts to play ... and a big part of that deals with guys being where they're supposed to be ... and with guys who are putting in great effort, guys who demonstrate great toughness, and guys who demonstrate that they seem to understand their assignments. That's the thing that a lot of DBs have trouble with ... understanding their role in the D (understanding leverage - where their helps at) and showing the toughness of doing what they need to in run support.
